An excellent selection of activities during the summer: sailing, windsurfing, diving, swimming, golf, walking and of course fabulous skiing during the winter season plus summer skiing also on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier.

Coast/Beach
The apartment is situated only 5 mins walk from the controlled lakeside bathing area including childrens pool and lifeguards. A small daily charge is payable. However a free public bathing area is situated approx 15-20 mins away and an outdoor pool is located at Thumersbach on the opposite side of the lake and is only a short bus journey away. Ice skating is often also available on the lake in winter.
Golf
Two championship golf courses around Zell am See itself - Schmittenhöhe and Kitzsteinhorn plus two more within a short drive at Maria Alm and Saalfelden. Surrounded by the glorious mountains, the setting is wonderful. The courses with their groomed fairways make excellent use of lakes, bunkers and trees and will make you wonder why you had never considered golfing in Austria before.
Skiing
The region offers 130km of pistes and 54 lifts plus nearby skiing at Kaprun which includes the Kitzsteinhorn glacier (15 mins on ski bus included on ski pass and all year round skiing). The Super Salzburger Skipass also covers Saalbach-Hinterglemm offering a further 240 kms of pistes and is only 30 mins bus ride away.
Travel
Zell am See is located approx 75 mins drive from Salzburg airport or 90 mins from Innsbruck airport. Many airlines fly there but RyanAir currently seem to be offering the best deals. Car hire is available at the airports. There is an airport express bus link with Vorderegger bus company between Salzburg airport and Zell am See (www. vorderegger.at). The return journey currently costs €29 per adult and €14 for children. There is also a train link from Salzburg and Innsbruck main stations.
Further details
A local supermarket only approx 3 mins walk from the apartment on the central square in the main pedestrianised shopping area. The local indoor swimming pool and ice rink is also only 5 mins walk from the apartment. The local train station is approximately 10-15 mins walk but taxis are also available outside the station. The town offers an excellent selection of restaurants, bars and cafes and there are some good restaurants on the mountain.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We loved the location which offers fantastic skiing in a stunning environment with many pistes offering a view of the lake and also offering a summer trade with windsurfing, sailing, waterskiing on the lake and skiing on the glacier in the summer. In short a beautiful place all year round and a welcome escape from London for the family!
Unique benefits of the property
The property is very centrally located but in a quiet side street whilst still being only 2 minutes walk from the supermarket on the square, 5 minutes to the lakeside and even in skiboots no more than 5-10 minutes walk to the gondola!
It has been furnished for family use as well as for paying guests and has a well equipped kitchen including dishwasher, comfortable beds and settee, TV, DVD and stereo plus a large balcony with a mountain view.
