Self catering apartment located at the heart of the stunning Halstatt-Dachstein mountain region. Famous for its breathtaking mountain and lake scenery the region is a fantastic all year round holiday destination; skiing in winter and walking, cycling and water sports in the summer. Great fro adults and children alike. Accessed easily from Salzburg or Linz the Dachstein West mountain range and the nearby UNESCO World Heritage site of Halstatt will certainly not disappoint. The apartment is located in an elevated position on the outskirts of the pretty, traditional town of Bad Goisern. Located in the heart of the Dachstein West skiing region there are plenty of ski resorts from which to choose and which cater for all levels of skiing ability. The apartment benefits from a balcony with breathtaking views of the valley and the mountains beyond. The apartment has TV, DVD, CD and plenty of games. In season, the hotel has a restaurant and guests may use the swimming pool and steam room.

The apartment is situated on the 3rd floor but lift access is available. Unfortunately, not suitable for wheel chair users.

The area is renowned for its beautiful fresh water lakes. There are many lakeside beaches in the area. Nearest lakeside beach at 5km. A range of watersports is available from canoeing, rafting, river diving, scuba diving, water skiing, wind surfing, boating, yachting and fresh water skiing.

The nearest golf course is around 15 minutes drive from the apartment.
Skiing
The apartment is located in the heart of the Dachstein West ski region. The area provides skiing for all levels. The skiing and the scenery are fantastic. The area is not overrun with hoards of holiday makers and remains rather undiscovered. Skiers and snowboarders will be spoilt for choice; nursery slopes, gentle family runs, secluded deep snow slopes and challenging free ride arenas (Krippenstein 18 km distant). The immediate area boasts 164km of groomed runs/lifts (15 km difficult, 137 km moderate and 12 km easy), 8 cable cars, 12 chair lifts, 21 practice and T bar lifts as well as 50km of cross country runs. There are nursery slopes and ski school/hire as well as creche facilities. English is widely spoken.

Bad Goisern is a pretty, traditional Austrian town. It has a wonderful bakery with cafe attached. There is a butchers and a range of other shops including 2 supermarkets. There are several restaurants including pizzerias. There are a number of banks also.
There is an outdoor swimming pool complex for use in the summer as well as a children's play park and pitch and putt.

We are a family of three; Ian, Julie & daughter Charlie.
Our holidays in Austria are always very special allowing us to spend precious time together and to completely unwind from work. We have, without doubt, had some of our best family moments in this beautiful country, whether it be skiing, swimming in the lakes or walking. The food is pretty good too! Sadly, Julie's skiing ability leaves a lot to be desired but often provides much amusement to ever improving Charlie. We very much look forward to our trips to Austria and just wish that we could spend more time there.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We first discovered this area of Austria when we took a short break back in 2004. The decision to buy was very easy - it was one of the most beautiful places we had ever seen. Our apartment has lovely views and it is so relaxing to lie in bed and look out over the mountains.
We love the combination of the lakes and the mountains - it is just as magical place. The air is so clean and the nights properly dark. The sky at night is incredible. We also love the variety of activities to choose from; we would defie anyone to get bored! The area is great for children with all sorts of activities. It is a fantastic all year round destination providing us with years of different and interesting things to do and see.
Unique benefits of the property
The apartment is at the heart of the Dachstein West mountain area and therefore the choice of ski/snowboard/walking/cycling/hiking is large and varied. The apartment is within easy reach of Salzburg or Linz airport (motorway followed by A roads with stunning mountain and lake scenery). The apartment is set out of the village so it benefits from great views but remains accessible. Bad Goisern itself is a charming and authentic village which is not overrun with tourists.
