Guest house Kitty (B&B). This is a wonderful area to stay! There is plenty to see and do and with the lake being one of the warmest in Austria - 22/27c in the summer- it is ideal for swimming. We are just 15 minutes away from Klagenfurt airport. Guest House Kitty is situated in a prime location being only a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Lake Wörthersee. The center of town can be reached in a few minutes where you will find shops, restaurants and bars in abundance. It also boasts its own outdoor swimming complex and promenade. We are just a short walk from the Congress center. We have a large garden and patio where you can enjoy your breakfast in the early morning sun. You may also enjoy a small, yet fine, selection of traditional Austrian dishes prepared by Martin. Drinks are also available for guests staying in our home. Thinking of a Short Break? Notes on prices
Our prices are per person, per night in euros based on 2 people sharing.The prices include local tourist taxes and breakfast buffet. We also offer a half board rate that will include a traditional 3 course dinner for €12 extra per person per night. For single occupancy of a double room please enquire. Reduced rates apply for bookings of 7 nights plus, to include a complementary evening meal. Please enquire for this great offer!
Changeover day
We are very flexible on our changeover days. It is your holiday so if you need to start it midweek then that is fine by us.
Notes on accommodation
Our rooms are all en-suite with your own balcony. The rooms are light and airy with refrigerators for your personal use.
We welcome families in our larger rooms.
Kindly note we are unable to accept pets.
Accessibility
We have one step down to get in to our property from the road. It is 16cm. We have 2 rooms on the ground floor, both
have showers and they have a step up of 17cm. To the upper rooms we have a set of 17 steps. Please email us if you need more information as we are more than happy to help you.
Outside
We have a large patio for dining and enjoying a cold beer or a refreshing pot of tea. For those seeking to relax in the garden we have sun loungers available. For those not so warm days we have a comfortable dining room.
Coast/Beach
Lake Wörthersee, Austria - we are just 5 minutes walk from this breathtakingly beautiful lake with its' sunny southern Alpine climate and stunning scenery. Known as the 'Austrian Riviera', clear, warm Lake Wörthersee has something for everyone. Getting around is easy with local buses, trains and, of course, boats to give you access to the villages that dot the lake shore and the many attractions and activities on offer.
Golf
We have 4 golf courses within 20 minutes of us in the area of Wörthersee; 3 of which belong to the "Leading golf courses in Austria". The nearest to us is just 8.4KM away in the scenic area of Moosburg and has been granted the title of "Premier European Golf Course" and is known as one of the most beautiful in Europe.
Skiing
Although Pörtschach is not in a ski resort we are very close by to some great skiing and snow sport areas. We are just 40 minutes by car from the resort of Bodensdorf on the Ossiacher Lake that forms part of the Gerlitzen Alpe Skiing area with 30km of piste and 15 lifts. The famous Nassfeld resort at Hermagor is just over an hour away and for the children we have the Windel Ski School at Faakersee 30 minutes away by car.
Special interest holidays
Walking: many miles of well-marked trails surround the lake, from gentle walks along the lake's edge to climbs through the surrounding foothills to smaller mountain lakes. The 'Hohenrundweg' is a complete circuit of the lake through the foothills which you could attempt to walk-in sections! About two hours walk from Reifnitz is the Pyramidenkogel viewing tower (only accessible by foot) with breathtaking views of the entire Carinthian lakes district. By using the excellent local transport, the scope for walking is virtually endless! Guided walks are available. Water sports abound with swimming, sailing, rowing, electrically powered boats, pedalos, and fishing, water-skiing and windsurfing all on offer! There is a cycle path running the whole length of the northern side of the lake from Klagenfurt to Velden and plenty of mountain biking in the foothills on both sides of the lake.
Travel
We are in an ideal location in Pörtschach, only 15 minutes away from Klagenfurt Airport. For those wishing to hire a car several companies are represented at the airport. Should you wish for us to arrange pick-up for you please confirm this at the time of your booking. For those arriving by train Pörtschach train station is just 7 minutes on foot.
Distances
From our location you can be in Graz in 2 hours 17 minutes and you can be in Salzburg in 3 hours 5 minutes. The Congress Centre is just 5 minutes away. You have a wide variety of places you can go and all within 20 minutes drive. We are in the central part of the lake so you can drive to Klagenfurt / Moosburg / Velden / Villach.
Further details
Pörtschach is a good place to relax, but also offers good water sports, walking and events. There are a number of good restaurants and shops to browse. There are 2 banks. Pörtschach offers a vast diversity of all kinds of leisure activities - the Velden Casino is highly appreciated by those who like to play roulette and, in addition, hosts a spectacular sound, light and water show during June, July and August. The region of Lake Wörthersee is always an adventure and not just for the summer - look out for the Christmas events and Markets and, if the weather permits, a natural ice skating arena!
