Self catering apartment in the Austrian Alps, good for skiing in winter and warm in summer - perfect for families. The apartment has been fully renovated and appointed to a very high standard. Swimming pool, recreation facilities and restaurants are all within the stunning grounds. One double and one triple bedroom, we also have access to an additional studio apartment for larger groups - please email for details. Only 30 minutes from Salzburg the stunning Saalach valley is perfect for winter and summer holidays with a host of activities and sightseeing opportunities for all ages and interests. The apartment is in the grounds of the stunning Schloss Grubhof, once the residence of the King of Bavaria.

Notes on accommodation
Very child friendly apartment and resort, all communal areas, grounds etc are maintained to a very high standard.
Accessibility
Ramps and lift access to the apartment but limited facilities inside apartment.
Outside
Two south facing balconies, 4x1.5m each. Massive shared gardens in the grounds of Palace Grubhof. Swimming pool (15x6m), small shop and reception, table tennis, small gym and laundry available in the apartment building. Italian restaurant/Pizzeria in the castle.
Coast/Beach
There are no nearby coastlines or beaches but the lake of Zell Am See (30 minutes Drive) offers lake swimming and lots of other water sports The river Salaach runs behind the apartment (2-3 minutes walk) and is suitable for swimming/rafting etc.
Golf
4 good quality courses within 30 minutes drive - Gut Brandhof, Urslautal, Zell Am See (36 Holes). All have driving ranges. There is also a unique cross country walk/golf course laid out around the village.
Skiing
Lofer has aligned itself as a family friendly ski resort. They offer very reasonable packages for family lift passes and there are 2 ski school locations - one in the village and the other at the bottom of the main ski area. This allows very young children to learn in a sheltered area, allowing non-skiing parents or carers easy access with minimum hassle. When children are old enough to be left at ski school parents can relax in the knowledge that they are never more than 5-10 minutes from the school should there be a problem. There are play areas at both locations and plenty of family friendly restaurants.
For the adventurous skier or boarder the apartments are a great base to experience the many resorts of Salzburgerland. A Salzburgerland Ski Pass gives you unlimited access to 2200km of piste across 40 resorts, all between 15 and 60 minutes drive from Lofer.
Travel
Salzburg airport 35 minutes drive or by direct bus link. Munich airport 2 hours drive. Innsbruck airport 2 hours drive. Car recommended but not essential.

Lofer Centre 2km. St Martin Centre 1km. Supermarket 750m. Saalfelden 25km. Zell Am See 30km. Main Bus Stop 400m.
Further details
A world of facilities on your doorstep. In winter the skiing is extensive but there are also cross country runs, floodlit sledging, snow tubing and snow rafting. The mountain is also easy to access for non-skiers. In summer there is a fantastic outdoor pool complex in Lofer with flumes, wave generator, natural stream, play park, volleyball pitch and sunbathing area where kids would quite happily spend a whole week!
If you can drag them away there are tennis courts, mini golf and loads of activities for adults and kids based round the Saalach River which passes just behind the apartments. If you are feeling more lively there are swimming lakes, gentle walks round the villages and more energetic hikes which can be reached by the lift system which is open during the summer. The lifts can also be used for mountain biking
