We welcome you to Haus Wasserbauer, a family friendly traditional Austrian guest Haus offering self-catering accommodation and B&B in the village of Mühlbach am Hochkönig. With a ski area totaling in excess of 150 km, a modern lift system and slopes to serve everyone, the Hochkönig offers you unique, family-friendly skiing to suit all abilities. The free ski bus stop is only a 200m walk away and the 3 minute bus journey takes you to our main lift station. Part of the Ski Amade collection of resorts, the Hochkönig has received €60m of investment in the past 3 years. Only 45 minutes from Salzburg, Mühlbach am Hochkönig offers a truly tranquil place to relax and explore Austria. Summer activities include walking, climbing, mountain and road biking, fishing, swimming, tennis, archery, children's playground and petting zoo. The village has a supermarket, an excellent bakers, tourist information, 2 banks, post office, drogerie, cafes and number of restaurants and bars.

We offer discounts for smaller groups and individuals and also have ski/summer weekend and short stay rates, please contact us.
Apartment Maier price is for 10 people and Apartment Bradl price is for 4 people, there is an additional charge of €20pppn above the full occupancy.

Changeover day
Saturday is the preferred changeover day but this is flexible. Arrival is 3.30pm but we will happily store your luggage if you arrive earlier. Departure is at 10am and again, we are happy to store your luggage for the day should you wish to head out

Apartment Bradl is perfect for a family or couples. Comfortably sleeping 4, this apartment has: - Two double bedrooms - Two bathrooms with shower / wc (one is en-suite) - Kitchen and a dining area - Television, DVD player, Nintendo Wii in one of the bedrooms. - Free Wi-fi. - The kitchen area is equipped with a fridge with freezer box, electric hob and oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. - There is plenty of storage for boots, skis, snowboards and bikes as well as a large snowman building area in the Winter and sun terrace in the Summer. |

Notes on accommodation
Bed linen, towels and tea towels are all included. Accommodation is guaranteed from 3.30pm on the day of arrival, welcome packs are available on request. The centre of the village is just a 3 minute walk away where you will find the bakery, supermarket, bank, post office, restaurants and bars plus the all important ski bus stop in winter.
Outside
We have a large sun terrace in the summer / snowman building area in the winter with chairs, tables, parasol and BBQ. There is also ample private parking.
Golf
Within 45 minutes of Haus Wasserbauer we have 15 courses which play well from May through to October. Example course are as follows: Radstadt: Par 71, 5,962m : Located in the heart of the mountains you can not beat the views from each tee and as a real treat you get to ride in the ‘birdie jet’ the world’s only golf cable car taking you above 1000m to tee off from the 13th!
Urslautal: Par 71, 5,738m : Located outside the village of Maria Alm, the championship course at Urslautal is a must! It offers a challenging, yet varied course which will ensure your skills are tested as you work your way around what must be one of the most stunning panoramic views in the Alps.
Zell am See/Kaprun: (offers 2 courses) 1st Par 72, 5,980m, 2nd Par 73, 6,003m
With 2 courses on which to test your skills the club house at Zell am See/Kaprun can be a welcome sight if you play for the whole day!
Skiing
The Hochkönig ski area has 36 lifts linking three villages, 150km of local pistes and 40km of maintained cross-country trails ranging from 900 to 2000m above sea level. There are also 37 mountain restaurants for your well earned hot chocolate and Apfelstrudel! 97% of the pistes are also covered by snow making machines. From our house the free ski bus is just a 3 minute walk and this takes you either to the Mitterberg-Hochkeil area, which is excellent for children and beginners, or the cable car where you can ski from Mühlbach to Maria Alm and back. From the cable car you can ski right back to the village and to within 2 minutes of our house, snow conditions permitting.
Mühlbach am Hochkönig is also part of the Ski Amadé area with 860km of pistes. Ski Line technology is available across the region (see ski statistics each day!) and over €30m has been invested over the past 2 years in infrastructure.
Travel
Salzburg Airport is less than a one-hour transfer, while Innsbruck (transfer approx 2.25 hours) and Munich (transfer approx 2½ hours) also offer good access making us the ideal location for those weekly holidays and long ski weekends too.
We can provide transfers for up to 6 adults for a pre-agreed cost from Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich (airports and main stations). Car hire is straight forward and we also have a local train station in Bischofshofen offering a direct service from Salzburg.
Distances
Haus Wasserbauer is well located within 10 of Bischofshofen (where there is a main line station), 20 minutes from Werfen Castle and Ice Caves, 45 minutes from Zell am See and Kaprun, 1 hour from Hallstadt (a Unesco Heritage Site).
Further details
With the restaurants and bars only a few minutes walk away, the village has everything you need for the perfect holiday. Located in the centre of the village we have an excellent bakery, supermarket, post office, bank, Tourist Office, chemist and local Doctor. There is a ski hire shop at the end of our road and one located next to the main lift both offering excellent equipment. Leisure activities include walking, climbing, fishing, swimming, tennis, children's activities, mine museum and hang-gliding. In the Summer the Karbachalm cable car will take you up to a height of 1600 metres to begin your walk. There are fantastic views of the Hochkönig mountain range and many typical Austrian mountain restaurants to enjoy.

"This guesthouse was a real find. We got a clean, spacious 2-room 4- bed apartment with a kitchen, private bathroom, TV, Nintendo Wii computer games, and other extras including a nice country breakfast delivered to our room with no extra charge for an unbeatable price (2 times less than any 3* hotel, but this was better than a hotel). At first I was worried that maybe there is something wrong because the price was so low, but as soon as I called the staff and told that we will be late, I was pleasantly surprised by their good English and kind attitude and I immediately felt that they mean business. The guesthouse is located in a tiny town high in the Alps and the roads to this town are a real treat if you like driving on mountain roads, it is even worth taking a detour to see that. The owners were very nice and friendly young people.

We look forward to greeting you and sharing our knowledge of the local area and love of this unspoiled region of Austria. With a passion for the outdoor life (and the odd piece of chocolate!), we have skied, hiked and mountain biked in some of the world’s best-known mountain resorts and none, in our opinion, compare to the Hochkönig region and what it has to offer.
