First off, there’s a famous course at Quita da Ria, a few minutes from apartments on Armona Island, although a host of clubs can be found along the coast to the west. The town of Olhao is a 15-minute ferry ride away and offers all the amenities you could need for self-catering accommodation, with a bustling market, bars, restaurants and a supermarket. Just a little way along the coast from here is Faro, which has a number of interesting old sights, including a beautiful cathedral, tucked down its narrow cobbled streets.
