Nice break
Well situated for the centre of pocklington and the nice bars and cafes. Also easy access by foot to the wolds. Only slight issue would be the footpath to the side as can sound like someone next door until you realise it. Hosts very welcoming and offered good advice. Also nice to see the workshop

Very cosy
Has a lovely few days over Christmas in Carpenter's cottage, it's a beautiful cosy little cottage in a prime place for access to the centre of Pocklington, very well equipped with everything you would need including a lovely log burner which is very welcoming when it's cold outside. Helen and Patrick were lovely and friendly and we knew they were on hand if we needed anything. I'm sure we'll be visiting again in the not too distant future.

About the host

Hosted by Helen Allen

Host profile image
We have lived for about 15 years in the small market town of Pocklington near York with our three children.

Why they chose this property

We bought our period property (built in 1850) in Pocklington because of the town's excellent facilities, including independent shops and fabulous arts centre, and for its proximity to York and the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds. In 2010 we renovated a lovely old building in the grounds of our home, calling it Carpenter's Cottage..

What makes this property unique

Carpenter's Cottage is conveniently located in the heart of historic Pocklington; a very short stroll from shops, restaurants, arts centre (cinema and theatre), sports centre and Burnby Hall gardens (famous for its waterlilies). It is the perfect base for visiting the nearby city of York (13 miles) by bus or car, or for walking and cycling in the Yorkshire Wolds. Underfloor heating, wood burning stove, free wi-fi, private courtyard and off-street parking make for the ideal year round destination.
