A unique and beautifully designed artist’s cottage full of original and interesting features, with an idyllic, sunny and secluded raised garden. It is situated in a quiet lane close to the Barbara Hepworth and Trewyn gardens, and is only two minutes stroll from the main cobbled streets, restaurants, harbour and sandy beaches.
It has two good sized bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with two singles), and comfortably accommodates four people. Both bedrooms look out over the garden and sea beyond. The cottage has been stylishly renovated with a light and airy open plan feel with plenty of sky lights and different levels giving it a distinctive and original feel. The many features include the unique hand made wood burner and fireplace, ceramic and marble worktops and natural rose coloured slate floor in the kitchen, wooden shutters on the bedroom sash windows and hand-crafted woodwork throughout.
The sunny conservatory / dining room is surrounded by the beautiful raised garden and curved deck full of subtropical plants, flowers and fruit trees. The sunny south facing garden looks down over the harbour. The curved raised deck has a tree growing through it and is a magical place to lie in the hammock under the tree canopy, to have breakfast on a sunny morning, looking out to the sea, or to enjoy alfresco dining at the garden table surrounded by Jasmine, Passion flowers and sub tropical plants.
Garden Cottage is described by so many of our guests as a “hidden gem” and once they have stayed, most of our guests return year after year. It is perfectly situated only a short stroll to the restaurants and beaches and yet the lane is very quiet and peaceful with stunning sea views. The elevated secluded garden is a rare feature to have in St Ives and is tended weekly by the owner who is an artist (and keen gardener)! The owner lives in St Ives and her and her husband lovingly look after it themselves and so guests are assured that it will always be beautifully cared for, cleaned and presented with fresh flowers, milk, biscuits, tea and coffee, and many other essentials and homely touches.
If you’d like to avoid the high commission charges on this site you can go to one I pay a yearly fee for and so it is free from extra fees for guests and quite a lot cheaper. It’s garden cottage stives (all as one word with the usual British ending)… sorry I’m not allowed to spell it out. You will also find my contact details there incase you’d like to talk to me about any aspect of the cottage before deciding to book.
Thank you, Rachael
