About this property

House, Attractive Views Of The Byes, Family and Pet Friendly

By The Byes is a very attractive Victorian house built in 1906 set in a quiet residential location adjacent to The Byes. It is furnished to a high standard aimed at making your holiday as pleasant and relaxing as possible. The house has 1 large sunny double bedroom newly decorated with new bed for 2021 with delightful views overlooking The Byes on the first floor. Bedroom 2 is a very spacious twin room on the second floor again a sunny room with views of The Byes and fields beyond. The attractive bathroom is on the first floor with bath and walk in shower cubicle. The cosy sunny sitting room is perfect for relaxing and reading, again with views directly of The Byes. The dining room with dining table and 4 chairs, and comfy sofa to relax and watch TV, DVD, and games. The spacious modern kitchen with new for 2021 large fridge freezer, wall mounted double oven and washer /dryer; and double glazed stable type door leads to the rear garden. We feel the kitchen is equipped with everything you will need. Gas central heating throughout, is easily controlled making a very comfortable stay winter or summer. Unlimited WiFi is available, so holiday plans can be made from the comfort of your sitting room. It has sunny front and rear gardens well stocked with plants aimed at giving colour whatever the time of year. The rear garden is slightly staggered from the rear of the house - a Victorian feature. A garden table, parasol and chairs are available for sunny days. Handy, unlimited roadside parking adjacent to the house.
The coast with its two main pebble beaches are a 10 minute very pleasant level walk through The Byes, and along the Esplanade. At low tide there are areas of sand perfect for sand castle building, while the rock pools provide hours of fun searching for crabs. The town with its wide variety of shops ideal for browsing, cafes, restaurants, theatre, cinema and numerous beautiful gardens are all a short walk away. There is adjacent roadside parking. You may prefer to leave your car at the house as it is possible to explore on foot or use the very good bus service. Honiton 8 miles away has good rail links.
Sidmouth is excellent for exploring East Devon and Dorset. Lyme Regis with its fossil rich cliffs is a 20 minute drive. Exmouth with its large clean sandy beaches is about 15 minute drive. The World Heritage Jurassic Coast with its many unspoilt beaches can easily be explored driving as much or as little as desired. For walkers, Dartmoor National Park offers endless potential. For golfers, Sidmouth Golf Course is a mile away The Donkey Sanctuary very popular with families is a 3 mile drive. The Sidmouth Folk Festival at the end of July/beginning of August brings music and dance from many parts of the world. For something quite different the city of Exeter with its cathedral and retail therapy is about a 30 minute drive.

Dog blanket and bowl are provided. We do ask that dogs do not sleep on beds as further guests may have allergies or pets. The Byes provides the perfect place for a walk.

Lovely cosy house in quiet location
Perfect location for walking into Sidmouth and surrounding countryside via the beautiful Byes. House was spotless and had everything we needed and more. Our daughter loved what she described as "her cave"which was actually the loft room. Will definitely return soon, thank you for letting us stay

Bringing Back Memories
Very enjoyable stay in a house four doors away from where I spent the first eleven years of my life, with my grandparents living next door. Looking out over and crossing the little bridge over the River Sid to the Byes, a N.Trust couple of miles park, then passing the Old Toll House, heading for the beach via a car-crossing ford, has not changed in sixty years. Sidmouth is still a delightful gem with the red cliffs of Salcombe Hill and Peak Hill protecting it either side. Lots to see and do....ride on a tram along the River Axe at Seaton, visit the old mining caves at Beer, and admire the donkeys at the Donkey Sanctuary. The house was very well equipped with everything required, also the beds were very comfortable. All in all a very enjoyable week.

We are both retired and look forward to the more relaxed pace of life Devon offers. We chose Sidmouth as the perfect place for our holiday home by the sea, having holidayed here for many years when our children were younger.

Why they chose this property

Our children now grown up with children of their own remember very fondly Sidmouth holidays. Therefore it seemed the obvious choice for a holiday home. We love Sidmouth with its elegant seafront and beaches. We love our sunny house with its location adjacent to The Byes. In 2 minutes we are walking by running water or off for a picnic. The Sid Vale Association, the first Civic Society in Britain founded in1846 in Sidmouth has sought to preserve the towns unique character and heritage. There is a great choice of shops, eateries of all kinds beautiful garden to admire and interesting walks abound. It is surrounded by the East Devon Area of Outstanding A little further afield the Jurassic coast offers walking and exploring opportunities while the city of Exeter offers retail therapy.
Sidmouth is easily accessed from M4. The theatre, local events and societies are numerous which give all year round appeal.

What makes this property unique

Byes View is an attractive terrace house built around 1906, in a quite residential area. It is adjacent to and overlooks The Byes a great location for families and pet owners. A 2 minute walk brings you into this is a huge long park that runs from Sidmouth to Sidbury 2km alongside the River Sid, and owned by the National Trust. It is an 8-10minute walk through The Byes to the beach. If it is the shops you require then a 5 minute walk brings you into the town. The rear garden is a suntrap all day, while the bench in the front garden is great for morning coffee.
We have all enjoyed making Byes View our home from home by the sea. We all thought what was important for a relaxing and happy holiday and each suggestion has been carefully incorporated.
