About this property

Trewartha, Cosy Cornish Cottage a few steps from St Ives beaches and harbour

Refurbished in 2024, Trewartha is perfect for a family holiday or a break away for couples, and well behaved dogs are welcome to stay too so they can also enjoy the fantastic walks on the beaches and the coastal paths (and being with you of course!). Most of the attractions in St.Ives such as the harbour, Tate Gallery and the beaches are just a few minutes walk. The kitchen is well equipped for your comfort, although there are so many wonderful restaurants, cafes and pubs in St.Ives you probably won't want to cook. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, one with a king size bed and one with 2 single beds. Each bedroom has its own washbasin. The cottage doesn't have its own parking but you can pre-book a space at the nearby rugby club or there are several public car parks within walking distance. Trewartha is in a row of cottages in Downalong which is the oldest part of St.Ives. It fronts onto a quiet road and is moments away from Porthgwidden Beach and the harbour, which provide lots of opportunities for sitting outside and admiring the wonderful views. It is 15 minutes walk from the train station.

Beautiful Cottage for Beautiful St Ives
As a family we absolutely adore St Ives and have been visiting for over ten years in all seasons. To find accommodation as lovely as this cottage made our stay even more brilliant. We checked in very easily and were greeted with a clean and lovely cottage (& a cute welcome basket of goodies) The decor and furnishings were lovely with a real Cornish feel. We have a dog and have previously stayed in houses to find the smell of the previous visitors to still be lingering... We were really pleased to see and smell that there was no trace of previous dogs at this cottage. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed for our stay & we enjoyed brunches at the table. We were able to override the heating when required, given we visited on a wet week. The bedrooms were really spacious with comfy beds and the perk of a sink each. The ultimate plus for us was the location, once the car was parked up, we left it and simply enjoyed dog walks, ice-creams, meals and drinks with of course beautiful St Ives views. Communication with Sarah, the owner was super and made the whole visit smooth running. We'd definitely like to return!

Disappointed
Very clean.. but very basic .. not the usual St Ives vibes.. heating being controlled remotely is not good .. just a house with furniture.. it has no soul or personality .. it’s a shame as the location is good .. beds were very comfortable.. but it’s all in the details .. which was what was missing .. would really loved to write a better review .. but feel the owners need to give it some love

Disappointed
The cottage is lovely. In the centre of St Ives. But on entering it obviously needs some TLC. Drab decor; cheap soft furnishings. Bed very comfortable. But very basic thin bedding. The sofa’s so uncomfortable. Definitely seen betters days. But our main issue …! The owner controls the heating from her Wifi. So if you need a boost you have to contact the owner to turn it up. We actually used the oven to heat the room. Such a shame. It could be a fabulous place to stay. But just felt like a business.

A perfect place
A perfect place in old St Ives. Perfect host. Yes parking is difficult and the streets are narrow for cars but that's the charm... It ain't Milton Keynes!!! Book it and make some memories whatever your age...it's perfect

I used to visit my grandmother in St Ives when I was young, and now I have my own house here! I am married with 4 children and we all love spending time in St.Ives

Why they chose this property

St Ives is a magical place and so beautiful. I'm not very keen on the seagulls trying to steal my ice-creams but on sunny days I do love to sit on the rocks near the cottage watching out for the porpoises, dolphins and seals that sometimes pass by.
