The property is well designed and tastefully decorated throughout. In a part of Andalucia that is well known to photographers, film makers and painters for the unusually good quality of light. Three double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom and every convenience make this an ideal property for friends or families. Only 40 minutes from Almeria airport. The low rise Mojacar Playas, 10 minutes away, are well known for chiringuitos, restaurants, shopping center and several kilometers of sandy Blue Flag beaches.The village of Turre, two kilometers away, has a bakery, supermarket, bars and restaurants. We also have beautiful unspoilt beaches nearby. The unique whitewashed Moorish village of Mojacar is steeped in history. Nearby villages have weekly farmers markets, the famous Moors and Christians weekend is in June and many other local fiestas. Enjoy 'fresh of the boat' seafood in one of the many fish restaurants. Granada and the Alhambra is a 2 hour drive.

The large private 12x5m Pool is surrounded by terraces on two sides, with pool beds and umbrellas. The pool is not fenced. However the access to the pool from the main terrace/seating/eating area is has a gate that can be closed so small children do not have access to the pool area.The pool has a mature palm trees at one end and olive trees down the long the side. A seating area under the palms by the pool for that evening sundowner. Up six steps from the pool and through the small gate, you have the large covered terrace that offers comfortable shaded dining and sitting area. BBQ. Weekly swimming pool maintenance service included. Weekly garden maintenance included. There is also a sitting area in the beautiful central courtyard.

Notes on prices
Guests outside Spain pay damage deposit by credit card. (no surcharge) Damage deposit paid on arrival or prior if arriving outside office hours. Refunded within 48 hours after property checked. Time of arrival, not before 5pm, unless by prior arrangement in writing. Time of departure, the property must be vacated by 10am, unless by prior arrangement in writing. A change of 50 euros will be charged if we do not receive the keys on your departure.
Saturday is our preferred change over day. Please contact owner.
We are now taking bookings for 2015. To confirm booking we need deposit 25% of total rental price within 7 days. 75% paid 6 weeks before arrival. Full rental price paid within 6 weeks of arrival date.
Payments by credit card charged fee 1.35%.
Booking can be cancelled in writing. The 25% deposit not refundable. Cancelling 41-30 days prior arrival incurs 50% charge of total. Cancellations less than 29 days incur 100% charge. All refunds suffer deduction of bank charge

About the area
The blue flag beaches of Mojacar are mainly sandy. Close to the beach boulevard you will find activities such as wind-surfing, jet-ski's, diving trips, sailing, a bowling alley and the nearby Go-cart track. We are ten minutes drive to the beach area, the shopping center, bars and restaurants. Low key night life can be found along the beach boulevard. In the Vera playa and the Cabo de Gata natural park you can find several more secluded naturist beaches. The Vera Water Park is nearby.
There are many good Golf Courses in our area. Desert Springs, Alboran, La Envia, Valle del Este, Cortijo Grande, Marina Golf, and Los Terreros.
May, June, September and October are the ideal months for golfers.
El Olivar is well situated and with easy reach of all of the golf course listed above.
Skiing in Sierra Nevada, Granada is an easy two hour drive away.
Special Interest Holidays
Gabo de Gata National Park, Nijar. Cuevas del Almanzora. Sierra Cabrera. Agua Amarga. Bedar. La Alhambra, Granada.
Local villages have weekly farmers markets. In June the famous Moors and Christians weekend which takes place in Mojacar. Many day excursions are on offer. Wine tasting in one of the Alpujarran winerys, visit the Olive mill and Museum in Tabernas. Spend a day in Almeria and see the old castle.
Visit Nijar and see the Pottery makers at work. Go to the Jarapa factory
We a comfortable two hour drive to Granada and the Alhambra. 35 minutes to Mini Hollywood and the western film set villages. The Clint Eastwood westerns were filmed here. Visit Carboneras where David Leans Lawrence of Arabia was filmed. Take a day and drive around the Cabo de Gata natural park. See the old gold mines, take a walk on the sand dunes and go to see the resident population of Flamingos. Visit the town of Cartagena.
How to get there
By Air: Almeria airport 40 minutes, Alicante 2 hours. Murcia 90 minutes.
By Train: Almeria, 60 minutes. Lorca 45 minutes. Murcia 90 minutes.
By Ferry: Ferry for Morocco goes from Almeria 60 minutes.
By Bus: Bus stops in Mojacar, or Vera at 22km. for long distance connections
A car is essential and we have a good local Taxi service if needed.
Turre village is 2.5 km, Mojacar village 6 km. Beach 8km. Garrucha 10 km. Vera market 15 km. Nijar 50 km. Almeria 90 km. Murcia 120 km. Cartagena 75 km. Granada is a 2 hour drive.
In the nearby fishing village of Garrucha you can taste the famous Gambas Rojas in one of the many fish restaurants overlooking the port. A large variety of Paellas can be enjoyed in many local restaurants and chiringuitos.
As well as the Friday farmers market, Garrucha has all the usual amenities (supermarkets, ATMs, doctor, butcher, fishmonger, chemist and many cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours). These amenities can also be found in the ParqueComercial Shopping center on Mojacar Beach.

"Serene and charming"
Fabulous charming house displaying the owners collections from travels afar which gives it a real character. Sufficiently remote to allow for privacy and wonderful views yet only 5 minutes drive to the town/beach/pueblo. Ideally placed and we (my mother and my 2 boys, aged 5 and 3) had every need catered for....even home made olive oil and jam :-) Visiting in late October, the pool was too cold to enjoy, but the nearby beaches didn't fail to please us and the boys loved Mini Hollywood! The only suggestion I would make is that it should be clear that the 3rd bedroom,'studio' is accessed via an external staircase which made it unaccessible for my mother (i stayed in there...but...it was a bit far from the children in the mornings). I would certainly return, there is plenty more to explore in the region and think EL Olivar is a really good, comfortable and spacious base.

"A Wonderful Holiday "
We spent a wonderful fortnight at El Olivar. We all loved the beautiful villa and spent many hours around the superb swimming pool. Lots of al fresco dining , and we especially enjoyed Sarah's home produced olive oil and jams. We had good trips to to Carboneras, Garrucha, Villaricos and Agua Amarga and Cabo de Gata. We hope to come back for another relaxing break here.

A perfect holiday in the hills, cut off from the masses but near enough to civilisation when you need it (5 min drive to well-stocked supermarket and restaurants, 10 min drive to beach if you want it, but with this home I can't see the appeal of a busy beach). A very well-designed house, thoughtfully laid out and tastefully furnished. Wonderful pool with far-reaching views. Air-con in all bedrooms. My partner and I have taken our boys to many pretty, secluded villas and houses abroad before, but this is something a little bit wonderful. Really hope to return soon.

This was our first time to stay in this exceptional villa and it more than lived up to our expectations. The house is full of personality and is a home away from home. The outside eating areas are a joy and our kids (12, 11, 9) had hours of fun in the pool. Mojacar pueblo well worth a visit - especially to eat in the evenings. Beaches nice but waves a bit dangerous at times. Sarah very kindly left some of her own olive oil & jams which we enjoyed. Local supermarket in Turre is well stocked. I would definitly reccommend this villa for a relaxing holiday and we hope to return again.

"Just Perfect "
What an amazing house to spend some time in! We had such high expectations before arrival and these were exceeded. The house provides a perfect balance of outside space and calm interior which made our week just not enough. This is a perfect romantic break for 2 - short drives to interesting towns, but, real tranquillity to ensure you relax. Self catering is our usual option for holidays over the years and this house is now at the top of our list for a return to Spain. I really can't recommend it highly enough - so go on and treat yourselves!!!

Why this location?
We built our house ten years ago, and supervised the project every day for the two years it took. We are very proud of the result. Great attention to detail was our priority. A very special property that reflects the owners tastes acquired from years of travels in Asia and Africa. We love this area. At home we have the peace and quiet of the countryside, and yet we are only minutes away from the coast and the villages. Granada is a day trip away, and Cordoba and Seville are visited on an easy weekend trip. We are well connected by Air, train, ferry and bus to the rest of Spain, Africa and Europe.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
Our beautiful Andaluz/ Moorish style country house has panoramic views over the olive and citrus groves. Great for hiking . Mountains and beach close by. There is nothing to beat the taste of freshly picked oranges and mandarins! Help yourself! See the almond groves in blossom nearby in the early spring.Help with the Olive harvest in November. We are five minutes from the village of Turre with small shops and supermarkets, and ten from the low rise beach area which is well known for its local beach bars, restaurants, shopping center. We also have beautiful natural unspoilt beaches nearby. The unique whitewashed moorish village of Mojacar is steeped in history. Local villages have weekly farmers markets.
