    High spec build of traditional Alpujarra cottage with mountain views. We pride ourselves on the quality accommodation at a fair price with a very high standard of cleanliness and consideration for our guests. Situated between the coast [35 to 40min], Granada 1 hour] and the ski resort less than 1 and a half hours away. Country walks, from your doorstep. Enjoy the large private pool and spacious terrace, wander through the gardens and olive grove or play table tennis by the pool. Wireless internet and Spanish TV, DVD, video players plus children's games available to complete your stress free holiday. [nb UK TV accessible via computer link to TV screen]

    We are on hand to welcome you to the casita, help with any information on local bars, restaurants, places to see, the best times to visit the famous Alhambra Palace and any other questions you may have.

    Water supply!: An important question to ask when staying in rural Spain is 'What happens when the water is cut off?' as this happens a lot - there may be a repair needed or a shortage of water in the area - and you rarely get any warning!. We have a back up system of 1000 litres at the flick of a switch -so there is no inconvenience to our guests. Check this point before booking your holiday!

    Home Produce & Green/ Eco friendly: A substantial vegetable garden supplies us and our guests with plenty of fresh produce. We also have our own fruit; oranges, lemons, limes, apricots, plums, nectarines, pears and kaki for all to enjoy!

    We are very keen to reduce our affect on the surroundings and we now have a highly efficient solar system for our hot water

    We have hens for our own supply of eggs and pigs also make an appearance at our place from around June to January! Ducks also added 2014! Don't worry, they are all at a short distance from the casita but great fun to visit - especially for the children.

    Birds abound! So many different species of birds can be seen and heard- from Nightingales to the amazing Golden Orioles and Eagles.

    Prices shown are for the 2 bedroom + 1 shower 'wet room'. Other option is 1 bedroom + 1 shower 'wet room' with a £50 per week reduction OR the 3 bedrooms with ensuite bathroom at additional £200 to basic price. All rooms have great views of mountains and surrounding countryside plus fantastic sunsets.

Bathroom 2 is en suite to the 3rd bedroom with mirror over basin, bath with shower over, loo and heated towel rail. Good quality towels for bathroom use supplied plus plenty of hot water.

    Important notes on accommodation

    For the children we have books,. duplo and lego and board games plus great children's bed linen and having brought up 4 boys we have some understanding of their needs! There is a bolted gate between the private garden and the pool area to give extra peace of mind. There are no steps, so pushchairs can move with ease from the car to the house to the pool! For wheelchair users and the elderly or infirm- With no steps from the car to the house to the pool, wheelchairs are very welcome. The doors are wide [80cm wide] including the bathrooms to help make your stay just a little bit easier and all light switches are at 1.1m high.

The amazing routes up through the mountain villages are an absolute must with incredible views around the mountains. Enjoy the local cafes for your taste of the area + free tapas [ small plates of tasty food] with every drink! Granada- 1 hr- see the magnificent Alhambra Palace and discover the wonderful small intimate historic city. Have a Turkish bath! Walk through the old Moorish quarters. Or Only 40 minutes to the coast with loads of different beaches and villages with the Chiringuitos [restaurants actually on the beach] for lunch watching the Mediterranean in front of you. Or 1½ hours door to door to the ski resort . [ You can see the snow topped mountains from the casita almost throughout the entire year!] Great ski-ing and sledging for all the family - frequently so warm you can ski in T shirts Other Activities: enjoy the magnificent gardens; children's trail, painters' delights and all the hens, turkeys, ducks and pigs to enjoy!

    "A comfortable and peaceful rustic retreat."

    We know the area well but this was our first time at Las Chimeneas and we liked everything about it. Kay made us very welcome and it was lovely to have some provisions in the house when we arrived and to be able to go into Kay's garden to pick fresh organic produce. We enjoyed all the animals, cats, dogs, pigs, chickens, turkeys and ducks, and moseying around the garden to give the pigs our leftovers. The house was well equipped with everything we needed, a nice pool and lots of areas to sit and relax. The views are stunning and we lay on the sunbeds at night looking at the milky way and shooting stars. It is 10 minutes from Orgiva town, 40 minutes to the beach or mountain villages,and an hour to Granada. We opted for the Arab baths in Granada for a change which were as amazing as the Alhambra itself. All in all we had a thoroughly good time and look forward to another visit.

    "Perfect in every way"

    Beautifully designed inside and out with a wealth of thoughtful touches and attention to detail. The welcome 'picnic feast' was greatly appreciated after our drive from the airport. Our whole family (my husband & I and our two teenagers) all rated this one of the most outstanding places we've ever stayed in. The description of 'gardeners paradise' is totally true: to sit and relax, surrounded by masses of colourful plumbago, bougainvillea and thunbergia, was an absolute dream. Then to be able to stroll anytime through the beautiful main garden was complete bliss. We all loved this place - In August heat the pool made for hours of entertainment and the table tennis table was a huge hit too. Kay and Bernard were wonderful hosts: immensely helpful with information on the area and kindly scanning & emailing leaflets in advance. As the heat made walking hard for much of the day, we took the National Park bus from Capiliera up into the Sierra Nevada and enjoyed a day of spectacular (and cool!) mountain walking. Thanks to Kay for finding out details of the bus so we could book in advance - it fills up fast. Really want to come back at a cooler time of year to explore the immediate area - and will definitely be staying here!

    "A little slice of paradise"

    We have just spent a week at Las Chimeneas, and what a wonderful week it was! The property is surrounded by absolutely breathtaking gardens! The pictures, as lovely as they are, really don't do them justice. Fig, orange and lemon trees, gorgeous flowers and plants, a fab allotment, pigs, chickens, ducks, two very friendly dogs....the lot! There is also a large and uber-clean private pool (with ping pong table!) and plenty of outdoor seating where you can eat, drink and relax. And that's just the outside.... The casita itself was spotless, with beautiful views from every window. Television, wi-fi, washing machine, and a fabulously well-equipped kitchen.(I actually think you'd struggle to think of something you needed that couldn't be found in that kitchen!) Our one year old daughter was also really well catered for, two high chairs, lots of plastic plates, cups and cutlery and there were even a few big boxes of Lego to keep her entertained. Basically, Kay and Bernie have thought of everything! They were perfect hosts, around if you needed anything but without being intrusive. The fresh bread, wine and veg from the allotment that were left to welcome us were a really lovely touch too. This property really was everything a holiday rental should be, and I would highly recommend a stay at Las Chimeneas! Thank you, Kay and Bernie! It was ace! Dawn, Paul, Denise and little Audrey.

    "Juste parfait !"

    Si vous aimez le calme, la nature, des paysages à couper le souffle mais en étant aux pieds des sentiers de randonnée et à proximité directe de plein d'endroits superbes à découvrir, c'est ici qu'il faut vous arrêter. En plus du cadre idyllique, vous bénéficierez de l'accueil chaleureux de Kay et Bernard et séjournerez dans une maison typique, bien fraiche et tout confort. Ajoutez à cela la piscine (nos quatre fils s'y sont joyeusement "éclatés") et l'exceptionnel jardin de Kay où l'on trouve notamment des oranges à profusion, et vous aurez une vision assez précise de ce petit coin de pur paradis. La proximité de Grenade (environ 50 km) et de son magnifique Alhambra, de villages blancs accrochés à la montagne et de villes côtières telles que Nerja ne gâche évidemment rien. Toute la famille a adoré !

    "AN IDYLIC RETREAT FROM THE WORLD"

    The property is presented to an excellent standard with all mod cons yet having the feel of a truly rustic Andalucian home. The views are spectacular from every window and the property is nestled in a lovely secluded garden with a beautiful outside pool and seating area. The hosts are charming and are always looking to make sure your stay is enjoyable but yet not intrusive on your stay. The home is spotless with all mod cons such as WiFi, TV etc. If you want a break from the hassle of life and need your batteries recharged this is the place to stay. Excellent all round!
