"Lovely family holiday in Southern France"
Had a wonderful, hot, sunny and very relaxing 2 weeks in Verteillac. The children loved the pool and the relative seclusion of the farmhouse meant that we, the adults, could relax ? when the farmer came to collect the wheat in his large combine harvester the children almost combusted. Grainne and Richard were wonderful hosts. Always on hand to help with a question but were incredibly discreet. The nearby village of Verteillac was only 5 minutes away by car and had the usual boulangerie and boucherie to help with supplies. We had 2 wonderful nights in the village eating duck, steak and frites with Bordeaux red along with the rest of the village sitting on large trestle tables in the village square under a starlit night. The house itself was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 young children (3 and 6). The bathroom was good (no bath but modern, powerful shower), a well stocked (if small) kitchen, two very nice bedrooms (with good beds) and the house had the most incredible TV that meant that on those evenings we did not go out both the adults and the children could watch TV, selecting films from a very wide selection of DVDs or, via satellite, watch UK TV. I would highly recommend a stay here.

This is a great location for visiting and exploring the Dordogne Region. Great barn conversion with everything that you need. Hosts were very attentive but not overpowering which is important for relaxing. Lots of villages close by with a huge range of restaurants for eating out so don't be tempted to stock up at Tesco on the way! Try out the local stuff. Lovely bakery in Vertillac but be there early for your croissants as the go quickly. We travelled around the whole area including Lacanau Ocean and Royan, Cognac and Bordeaux. This IS France - enjoy it!
