    This 3 bedroom apartment has a great location in the centre of this quiet pedestrianized village. On the lower floor there is a large living and dining area with adjoining kitchen. The new kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, microwave and washing machine plus all the usual kitchen accessories. The living room has a 32in flat screen TV and blue-ray player. A bathroom with whirlpool bath was re-fitted in 2011. One bedroom is a double and is on the lower floor. The other two are on the upper floor. One has "zip and link" beds offering the choice of a large double or twin beds. The other has limited head height, with twin beds most suitable for children but will take adults too. The second bathroom, with a luxurious and spacious walk in rain-shower is between the bedrooms.

    No utility room, but washing machine in kitchen.

    Corner Sofa with double sofa bed. 32in Flat Screen TV, Blue Ray/DVD player, collection of DVDs). CD player with Ipod docking station. Dining area with table for 6-8. Games and cards.

    Other:
    Ski locker in the basement of the apartments.

    Cleaning/Towels/Linen/Maid service:
    The property is cleaned before arrival. Towels and linen are provided, but please take your own swimming towels.

    Accessibility
    Access to the lower floor is by lift, but the upper floor is via a steep staircase from the lower floor - not suitable for those with limited mobility. There is a stair gate fitted at the top of the stairs.

    Outside
    There are 3 balconies, the larger one south-facing with table and chairs and views over the slopes. Great mid-day sun. The one off the kitchen catches the morning sun and has a table and two chairs for a more intimate coffee.

    Important notes on accommodation

    There is underfloor heating on the lower floor and electric wall radiators throughout keeping the apartment nice and cosy.

    A travel cot is available, but please provide your own bedding for this.

    About the area

    Skiing
    Easy access to the Alpe d'Huez ski region, direct from the apartment. Skiing from Oz offers a great range for all abilities. There are the wide green and blue slopes of Alps D’Huez from the top of the Poutran and also from here the snowboard park for the more adventurous. The area above Vaujany tends to be quieter, again with a mix of green, blue, red and black. Another snowboard park can be found in Montfrais.

    Special Interest Holidays
    Alpe d'Huez is a large mountain bike area in the summer with cross country and down hill routes accessible from Oz Station. In addition Oz has Tennis courts, High ropes/zip wire activities in the summer. There is a wide choice of walking and mountaining hiking from the village, as well as canyoning. There are also White water activities within 40 minitues of Oz.

    How to get there
    By Air: During the ski season, you can fly to Grenoble (90 mins drive), Chambery (90 mins), Lyon (2hrs) or Geneva (2hrs 30 mins) and these are serviced by the budget airlines, (EasyJet, Thomas Cook, BMIbaby, Jet2, Flybe)
    From the airports you can hire a car, and there are many car rental companies at the airports, but better deals can usually be found by prebooking online.

    "5* ski accommodation in a superb location"

    We stayed in the apartment for a week in January 2015. From the minute we enquired about the ski apartment to when we went, Mark was really helpful and answered all our questions. The process of booking was easy. The apartment is by far the nicest we have stayed in whilst skiing. Forget being cramped, this apartment is very spacious. The views from the main balcony are superb and we ate lunch a few times in the sun on the balcony. You can easily do this as the apartment is really ski in/out! The apartment has everything you need and really is a home from home experience. I honestly can not find one thing to fault! Our son who is 3 loved the apartment. There was a nice area where he could play and lots of DVDs were provided in the apartment. The master bedroom is downstairs and upstairs is a large double and then the children's bedroom with a bathroom on both levels. The main selling point for us was the location of the apartment. It is in the heart of the resort, the supermarket is literally 30 seconds walk and the bakery is underneath the apartment. The apartment is in the middle of the 2 main ski lifts, both are within 1 minutes walk (or ski down). The best bit for us in terms of convenience was the location next to the children's nursery and children's ski lesson area. This mean we could do drop off/pick up so easily from the apartment to the nursery. The nursery was absolutely fantastic with the child care they provided. It is very rare to find such a nice spacious apartment in the heart of a ski resort. We loved it so much we have booked up already for next year!

    "Best Oz accommodation we've had."

    We ski from Oz en Oisans every February with our two daughters and over the years we have stayed in five or six different chalets/apartments, but this one has proved to be the best so far. As with this one, it's possible to ski in/out of most places in Oz but it's location, in the very centre of the village, means that everything you need is on your doorstep. The kids enjoyed nipping downstairs in their slippers to get bread and croissants from the bakery each morning and a meal in the Poutran restaurant on the ground floor meant not having to put on boots and trudge through the snow (though I wore trainers, not slippers!). Ski school meets right outside the apartment and the main shop is just opposite; a twenty second walk. This year we came with a friend and her daughter and this apartment was spacious enough for us all. It is very well equipped with good utensils and cookware. Dishwasher and especially washing machine are always good to have. Bonuses that other places may not have include the whirlpool bath (great to relax in after a long day on the slopes), a very good DVD collection (always a hit with the kids!) a basket full of different electrical adaptors, large bags you could use for shopping, first aid and sewing kit etc, etc. It seems that everything you need is here! Mark was very helpful with booking/information and returned our deposit very quickly after our holiday. Picking the keys up on arrival is simple, as is leaving them if you have a very early departure, as we did. The reason we stay in Oz is that it is a lovely, small village with a few restaurants and bars but it is quiet at night. No cars can drive through the centre but you can ski through. So it's brilliant if you have kids. It's connected to the Grande Domaine ski area but here you don't have the very long queues to get up to the pistes that you sometimes do in Alpe D'Huez. Also the skiing between Oz and Vaujany is beautiful and less busy. We only got back last week and we are looking forward to booking this apartment again for next year.

    "Superb Ski Apartment"

    This apartment is a superb base for skiing. It is comfortable, light and sunny with fantastic views from its generous balcony overlooking the slopes and village of Oz en Oisans. Last year you could 'ski in ski out' due to the amount of snow. This year there wasn't so much snow so it meant only a short walk to the lifts to the huge and high ski area encompassing Alpes d'Huez. Added to this, the apartment is situated near a pizzeria and bakery - surely two of the most important shops when on holiday in France! The three bedrooms are accommodating and the kitchen/diner/living space very spacious and a truly relaxing place to unwind. The apartment is incredibly well equipped and has a 'home from home' feel. This makes the whole holiday experience all the nicer. We couldn't recommend it more highly. That's why we've now booked for the third year running and will be returning in 2015!

    Thank you for the great review. We try our best and do get good feed back from all our guests. I think the only negative this year was that the teapot dripped!! Just wanted to point out that "ski in, ski out" was possible for all but the final weeks of the season in 2014. We stayed in mid March (left on 21st) and could still ski in and out then.

    About the Owner

    I live and work in England with my 2 teenage children. We love to holiday in France, and fell in love with the small ski village of Oz, when we visited as a late booking a few years ago.

    Year property purchased: 2010

    Why this location?

    We loved this quiet ski village when we first visited, and have been really impressed with the access to the pistes. Now that we have been in the summer we realise that there is so much to do in the area too.

    What are the unique benefits of the property?

    We love the location, right in the centre of the village, easy to get to the ski lifts, but close to the shops and facilities. Really easy to get back to the apartment at lunch time too, helps to keep the costs down, if you don't want to eat up the mountain. We are continuing to upgrade the apartment but have already fitted new bathrooms, a new kitchen and flooring. So all the big things have been done in the last couple of years, but continuing to make smaller improvements.
