No.12 Victorian Townhouse in Whitby, North Yorkshire
About the area
Whitby North Bay Beach is a 2 minute walk across the road and the award winning Sandsend beach is 2 miles away by car or a 40 minute stroll along the sand.
Whitby Golf Club is 2 miles away from the house. the 18 hole Par 71 course has 11 holes running along the coast with wonderful views along the coast, north-west over the picturesque bay of Sandsend to Kettleness, south-east over the harbour with the Abbey Ruins set in relief and inland over the rolling panorama of the North Yorks Moors.
It is the ideal type of holiday course, not too long or difficult for the moderate player provided a reasonable degree of accuracy is achieved. "Wild hitters" can be severely punished, as some of the hazards are quite unusual. The most striking is the cleft in the Cliffs known as "Upgang Ravine" which has to be driven when playing the 6th and 18th holes by the gents, ladies have as lightly less challenging Tee position. The wind coming off the sea can also make the cource challenging and play differently from one day to the next. We are pleased to offer out guests a 30% discount on green fees and we can book Tee times and arrange lessons for you.
Special Interest Holidays
Whitby and Sandsend bay are getting popular with surfers and surfing lessons are available. The walking and mountain biking in the area are excellent, with routes to suit all abilities. Many fishing trips are available from the harbour, for a few hours or longer, plus private charters are available for the serious sea fisherman. Whitby Golf club is close to the house and we can arrange golf for your prior to your arrival.

"Wonderful, cosy home from home..."
We had a wonderful short break here in May. The location of the property could not have been better. Turn right outside of the front door and within a minute's walk you are breathing in bracing sea air with a fantastic view of the abbey. Turn left and within 3 minutes walk you are at the start of Whitby's quaint streets, shops and numerous pubs/bars. The house was spotless, equipped with everything you need and great for all ages - including my 86 year old Mum. We would highly recommend as great value for money and would love to return.
Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing and families with teenagers
About the Owner
We have been together for 11 years, getting married a little over four years ago in a helicopter whilst flying over Las Vegas. For the last 4 years Whibty has been our home from home, and we finally moved up hear permanently in early 2011. We feel genuinely priviledged to call Whitby home, and we hope that our love and knowledge of the area will help our guests have a great time and go home sharing our enthusiasm for this part of North Yorkshire.
Year property purchased:
Why this location?
We bought No.12 in 2007 and spent the next 8 months fully refurbishing the house with the expert help of Julie's Dad, Jim, a retired Joiner and Builder. For the last three years we have spent as much time in Whitby as we can and both No. 12 and the town have become very dear to us and our family, to the point that a few months ago we decided that the time was right to move permanently to the area.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
No. 12 is right in the heart of Whibty ,close to Captain Cook's Monument on the east side of the Esk, making it a short walk to all the towns amenities, but we have a private rear garden and parking which is quite rare in the centre of town.
