Sleeps 2/5 (1 Bedroom)
Providing cosy, flexible accommodation, this 28 sq.m. apartment was fully refurbished recently and remains pristine for the 2014/15 season. As a family we know that it sleeps 5 in reasonable comfort (if you know each other well - otherwise 3 to 4 may be preferable!) and is super-convenient for skiing - located on the same floor as the ski lockers and access to the pistes (when snow conditions permit - alternatively the free shuttle bus stops some 25 metres from the front door). The apartment's efficient design, flexible accommodation, bright interior and cosy wood-panelled ceilings enable us to relax after a tough day on the slopes. A guaranteed undercover parking space is included. A TV is installed with a Freesat dish, giving access to a host of channels, including BBC 1, BBC2, ITV, Channels 4 & 5 etc etc. Private WiFi access in the apartment is provided free of charge. In summer an amazing variety of activities is on offer - from walking, through mountain biking, to extreme sports - please ask for details. The wifi internet connection works well - a recent guest enjoyed streaming netflix in HD!
There are 3 sleeping areas: one bedroom with double bed; one sofa bed in the living room which converts into either a double or two singles; one bunk bed with storage cupboards under in the "coin nuit" (entrance hallway).
Bathroom with 3/4 length bath and hand held shower; full size handbasin; washing machine; unlimited hot water.
Separate toilet. (NB occupants of each of the 3 sleeping areas can access the loo/bathroom without disturbing any other sleeping area)

The balcony extends to over 4.5 sq.m and is very private - not overlooked from any aspect. The afternoon sun can be a real tonic to bones wearied by a day's hard skiing, walking, or biking.

Apartment in Les Deux Alpes, French Alps, sited on the Vallee Blanche piste
About the area
For summer visitors, the Les 2 Alpes 9 hole golf course is an option.
"If you are a skier or boarder who craves variety, then Les Deux Alpes delivers in shovels-full" - Simon Calder - travel writer. The lift system tops out at 3600m, offering 220km of pistes with a 2300m vertical drop and extensive off-piste skiing.
Snow reliability is excellent on higher slopes, even in a poor winter. Above 2200m most of the runs are north-facing and the top glacier section guarantees good snow (this is a summer ski area). There is a great variety of snow-sure slopes, including an extensive glacier area, lots of good off-piste terrain, and one of the most extensive and admired snowparks in Europe, with a halfpipe, kickers, 2 boardercross courses and many jumps. Our apartment is situated on the Pied Moutet mountain with straightforward access (steepish blues) to the glacier side.
The six-day pass also allows you to ski in Alpe-d’Huez (a shuttle-bus goes on Wednesdays and Thursdays, or alternatively you could travel by helicopter!) and in Serre Chevalier or Italy.
How to get there
We regularly drive to Les 2 Alpes, taking 9 hours from Calais (more during peak periods) at legal speeds and with a couple of comfort stops. We know where the cheap petrol stations are located - please ask!
The closest airports are Grenoble, Chambery, Lyon and Geneva with regular flights from many UK airports. Bus links are available from airports (train necessary from Chambery) and car hire is available.
Distances from Les 2 Alpes to:- Calais - 940km (585 miles); Alpe d'Huez - 32km; Serre Chevalier - 65km; Montgenevre and the Italian Alps - 74km.
The 2 villages that combine to form "Les 2 Alps" are Mont de Lans (with a market on Wednesday mornings) and Venosc at either end of and below the resort, whilst the nearest regional town is Bourg d'Oisans, distance 19km, with an excellent market on Saturdays.
There is a host of shops in resort, both food (best is Marche U; also Spar and 2 "Casino" shops and a Carrefour Montagne; try also "La Ferme" selling prepared local dishes for eating at home) as well as fashion/clothing/equipment retailers. There are numerous restaurants; Chalet Mounier for a special occasion; L'Abri and Il Caminetto for pizzas, and L'Igloo for a good cheap lunch in resort. There is also a wide variety of bars - those popular with the British are the Polar Bear Pub; Smokey Joes; The Secret; and The Red Frog; The Dutch is also rated as good fun; Le Saxo is a lively, young French bar, with Les Lutins being more traditional.
There are lots of bars/restaurants on the slopes.

This is the second time I have stayed and it is absolutely great! Last year we stayed as a group of 5 and this year we stayed as a couple and both times have been perfect. The building is genuinely ski-in ski-out and sits the furthest up the slopes of any apartment building in the resort. We stayed in early January 2015 and couldn't ski-in/out due to unusually poor snow conditions but the free bus that runs down to the centre of town every 10-15mins meant that that was not a problem. Don't let this put you off though, ski in ski out is almost always possible. The apartment has stunning views with a balcony that makes the most of the winter sun. It is very well equipped with a brand new kitchen, rapid WIFI, british TV, dishwasher, washing machine, shower & bath - everything you need and more. It is warm and comfortable, the owners and English woman who greets you on arrival is very friendly and keen to help with departures, ski hire (she offers discounted rates with Ski Extreme who supply great quality gear) and I believe she is an experienced ski instructor who offers lessons) Overall brilliant apartment, great value and highly recommended!

Great apartment for skiers and sun worshippers! The view from the balcony/lounge was stunning. Immaculate presentation with all mod cons. Website description accurate. Owners helpful and friendly as was in-resort contact. Would happily return and recommend to others. If skiing, also recommend Extreme Ski for equipment hire and Charlotte for ski lessons. Finishing touch of a Xmas tree was much appreciated as was the access to private, undercover, secure parking. Thank you.

"Well-equipped apartment for 4/5 people"
This very reasonably-priced apartment rental suited our family ski holiday to Les Deux Alpes. We are 2 adults and 2 mid to late teens, and drove to the resort. We found the apartment attractively set-out, and neat in size. There is a cabin bunk as soon as you walk in, with plenty of storage space underneath. Also, a bedroom with double bed, and a kitchen/dining area which has very comfortable chairs, and a sofa settee in the sitting area. For 2 tall teenagers the sleeping arrangements were a bit of a squeeze. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped with all sorts of cleaning products, including dishwasher tablets. We were made to feel most welcome. The option to hire bed linen and towels was taken up, and Charlotte, a lady who looks after matters when the owners are not around, sorted this out for us. She is also a ski instructor and has lots of local knowledge. Our visit to Les Deux Alpes was right at the end of the ski season, and the snow was rapidly melting on the lower slopes. We are good skiers, and managed to ski to and from an area quite close to the residence (100 - 200 ft.), but unfortunately did not manage the ideal 'ski in, ski out'. This was fine apart from having to avoid some dog excrement and litter, but I have found this to be quite common in French ski resorts. The building block, too, was suffering problems with its lifts, but this was dealt with promptly. Parking was very convenient, the apartment having its own parking space, and the ski lockers were very close to our door. There were no problems with noise, but the apartment block as a whole was under-occupied, it being end of season. We also found the Wifi reception was obtained not at the apartment block itself, but at the next building (Odalys). I must mention that there is a very good bus service from just outside the apartment block, to the slopes on the other side of the valley. This free service picked up every 20 minutes, and arrived quite near the Diable chair lift a few minutes later. The bus service ran until evening. To sum up, this was a really enjoyable holiday. The skiing was great, the view from the apartment wonderful, and all ran smoothly, right from booking until our departure. With years of experience of renting ski apartments, those little home comforts which are usually not provided when booking through tour operators were much appreciated.

About the Owner
Skiing has been a regular and important part of our lives for many years, and it is surprisingly satisfying to observe our daughters catch the bug and easily surpass 'the Rents' in enthusiasm and ability. The big bonus to owning in Les 2 Alpes is the amazing variety of summer activities that is available and which we also enjoy. The temperature in August often seems to be as hot as we would wish it to be, without the humidity that is often associated with beach holidays in, say, the Riviera or the Spanish costas.

Why this location?
We've skiied in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France over many years, and enjoyed the mountains in summer too. It was the assured snow conditions in Les 2 Alpes, and relatively straightforward access by car, that persuaded us to buy here. Having rented in the resort twice, and scoured it for the second home apartment that would suit us most, we chose our apartment for 3 reasons:- 1 Location - on the piste with ski-in/ski-out capability, given normal snow, 20 metres from apartment door. 2 Location - elevated position within the resort, with great views to the south; covered car parking. 3 Location - quieter position than some others in this lively resort yet with easy access to the range of facilities.
