    "Fantastic First Family Ski Holiday"

We have just returned from our first family skiing holiday with 2 boys aged 8 & 11, staying at this wonderful chalet in Oz. Andy, Gill and Jamie were perfect hosts, providing large, comfortable, cosy suites to lay our weary bodies after a day on the slopes and delicious food for both kids and adults to recharge our batteries. The location is beautifully set in a little village just a short distance from the slopes. Andy guided us from the moment we made contact on what we needed for a successful ski experience (passes, ski school, equipment hire etc). He generously gave up his time to guide the more experienced skiiers through the most challenging runs and also provided great assistance, patience and encouragement to the less able skiiers in the group. Gill met us every afternoon with amazing home cooked cake and warm drinks, quickly followed by pre dinner drinks and a delicious 3 course dinner. The kids ate earlier with a more child friendly menu, which also allowed them to play in the games room after and allow the adults to eat & chat separately which worked really well. A few members of the group had an amazing sports massage in the chalet from Katie to help the body recover part way through the week – highly recommended! This really was an outstanding holiday and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a truly amazing and relaxing ski holiday, either as a family or individually. The hosts are so warm and friendly and make it an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to return next year!

    "Perfect Base for Summer Cycling"

Great location, perfect accommodation ample parking and everything we needed to keep me and my boys fed and watered for our cycling adventure in the Alps. This was my first trip to the Alps with my 13 and 15 year old sons and it's simply couldn't have been better. Andy and Gill are great their local knowledge and enthusiasm really made the holiday what it was. From information about cycle routes to restaurants and shops nothing was too much trouble. They organised everything from the hiring of bikes to a local masseuse on the 3rd day when our legs were in need of some care. If you fancy a cycling trip where you can essentially just turn up and ride bikes in the amazing scenery that surrounds this place and then get back to a lovely meal without the stress and worry of having to organise every last detail then Chateau d'Oz is the place to go! We are already have plans in place for next years trip :)

    "Lovely chalet, hosts and food!"

This was our first trip to Chateau d'Oz but hopefully not our last. We has a warm welcome from Gill, Andy, Leo and Laura with car parking guidance from Bobet and Louison! The family suites were much larger than we expected; warm, light, spacious and well equipped. Breakfast and dinner were tasty and plentiful and the afternoon tea with a choice of cakes more than replenished any calories burnt off on the slopes! You need a car ideally to get to the slopes rather than rely on the bus service. Nice little village at the ski lifts, Alpe d'Huez a fantastic area.

    "Fabulous Chateau d'oz"

We had a fantastic time. Gill and Andy were the perfect hosts. Perfect accommodation and sumptuous food. In fact the best food we've ever had skiing! The only decision was a toss up between skiing and coming back for Gill's amazing home made cake! The children were happy with lots of room to play with their friends which made our holiday more relaxing. Andy ran a very efficient bus service esp when our snow chains broke-luckily the oz supermarket came up trumps with much better ones!.Thank you very much for a great holiday. We'll be back!

    About the Owner

Andy and Gill have worked in hospitality all over the world for many years. We are experienced at making sure everything goes just right when you visit us.

    Year property purchased:

    Why this location?

Oz en Oisans village is in the perfect place to enjoy both the summer and winter seasons. Its really convenient for the lifts which in the winter take you directly to Alpe d'Huez and its fabulous skiing, and in July and August open up to take both mountain bikers and walkers up the mountains. Its close to the Tour de France routes, the famous 21 bends and the great cols of the Alps. Its quiet location means we love to hear the birds and the river running close by.

What are the unique benefits of the property?

Le Château d'Oz is in a beautiful traditional mountain village and was built over 400 years ago. It used to be used as a farmhouse but we have made some improvements to it and its now a very comfortable country house. As its the biggest house in the village, it has always been called "Le Château". We have one of the best restaurants in the area almost next door ( Auberge La Cure) which is ideal to eat in on our chefs night off in the winter or for al fresco lunchtimes in the summer. Were just down the road from the Ski lifts and Alpe d'Huez so you are close enough to be convenient yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet.
