Casa Callistemon is a large property set in orchard gardens in the village of Chite, Lecrin Valley. With the best of both worlds the main house and its cottage (Casita Francesca) are very much part of the village, but have views over the surrounding orchards, lower Chite, the picturesque Lecrin Valley and Lake Beznar and up to the Sierra Nevada mountains. All this under 30 mins from the Costa Tropical and Granada City.
Casa Callistemon has 4 large bedrooms - 3 with Queen size beds and one with bunk beds - all with ceiling fans and lockable doors to balconies and persianas (external blinds). There are 2 bathrooms, a large eat in kitchen with all equipment necessary, utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer and an enormous living dining room with french doors and huge high ceilings. All windows are energy saving double glazed and lockable.
Casita Francesca, the coach house of the main house, is full of rustic charm, but with all the comfort you need. It has a huge master bedroom and upstairs living room that easily converts to a large second bedroom (with a large sofa bed) and access to a lovely private terrace looking out to the Sierra Nevada.
The cottage can be rented on its own if the main house is empty or occupied by the owners, or it can be rented as a spillover for larger parties for the main house.
Casa Callistemon: Four large bedrooms - 3 with queens and 1 with bunk beds.
Casita Francesca: Huge bedroom with king size bed; living room/bedroom 2 with large sofa bed. Cot available.
Main house: Upstairs bathroom - bath with shower over; downstairs large modern shower room.
Cottage: Shower room with moorish design features. Doors from each room.
There is also a WC situated by the pool/bbq area.
All crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment, including microwave, toaster, stick blender and juicer, oven/hob and fridge/freezer.
Washing machine and tumble dryer (in the main house utility room) and clothes airer, iron and ironing board. Guests in the cottage also have access if the owners are there.
Main house: Huge living room and dining area, high ceilings and french doors to outside terrace.
Cottage: open plan kitchen/living/dining room + large upstairs living room with double sofabed, great views and doors onto a lovely terrace.
WIFI enabled. Connection details will be given on arrival.
There is a cot, a baby bath and high chair available for guests plus kids cutlery and crockery, selection of toys etc. Please enquire on booking.
Towels and linen supplied - changed weekly when the houses are also cleaned. A mid-week clean can be arranged at clients' cost.

Guests can offload luggage and shopping in the driveway but parking is at the top of the lane on the main street (easy access - no tiny laneways to navigate!)
Great for outdoor living. With an electronically operated gate, it's private and safe for kids. The property has loads of terraces, orchard trees full of oranges, avocados, grapefruit and persimmons, beautifully maintained flower beds, a lovely kid-friendly grass area, a large pool, outdoor summer kitchen and several seating areas. So there’s plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy the house and its surroundings. The house's unique feature is its outdoor/summer kitchen with hob, oven and large coalfired pizza oven/bbq and additional BBQ.
The large pool (not heated) has steps into a shallow end but goes to 1.8 m at the deep end. It is unfenced so small children must be supervised at all times. The swimming pool is shared with Casa Callistemon's owners. There is also a pool/bbq area WC and outdoor shower.

The house has been fully equipped and tastefully furnished with colourful mix of modern and traditional furniture and all mod cons, while maintaining character and the feel of the area.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the casa and weekly. Additional EUR300 pw for use of the Casita for larger parties (this rate is only when booking the main house). The casita can be booked on its own if the casa is unoccupied. Prices for EUR 580-650 PW.
Changeover day is flexible. Minimum stay is 7 nights.
Deposit of 50% of the booking fee paid on booking. Remainder to be paid 6 weeks before booking commences. Any bookings taken within 6 weeks of occupation must be paid in full on booking. A Deposit of EURO 300 will be taken for each booking - and refunded on exit pending any damages or loss of property.
Additional cleaning costs for interim cleaning and meet and greet additional costs for clients arriving out of office hours to be paid direct to the property managers when you get your keys.

About the area
The Costa Tropical is 20/25 minutes drive down the motorway - Salobrena being the nearest, then Almunecar, La Herradura and Nerja... It's a lovely stretch of coastline with some pebble and some dark sandy beaches, all very clean and clear - great for watersports and snorkelling/diving.
There are plenty of golf courses in the area and under 30 minutes drive. Nearest is Santa Clara which has amazing views of the Sierra Nevada, and other courses can be found at Granada to the north and at Almunecar and Motril on the coast.
Gordon James, ex Golf Pro and PGA trained golf coach lives in Lanjaron and is available for coaching.
The Sierra Nevada has the highest ski fields in southern Europe and the longest season with skiing possible from November through April. Sierra Nevada's main ski resort, Sol y Nieve, is approx 45 minutes away with full range of pistes for all abilities.
Special Interest Holidays
Tennis: There is a tennis court in a number of the villages – usually booked through the local town hall or social club. There is a court in Chite which doubles at the campo de futbol. Just opposite is a little lane which has the local Social club door on it (on the right as you look at the lane).
There’s also a court at Murchas which can be hired from the local town hall (Ayuntamiento) on the main street in Lecrin - 958 793 684. And also in Albuñuelas. The nearest big club is at Otura - el Club de Tenis y Padel Garrós. Visit www.garros.es T: 958 55 90 16.
Walking and cycling: The area is hugely popular for walkers and cyclists due to the amazing scenery and gateway to the coast, Alpujarras and sierra nevada. There are many local cycling and walking groups and tours.
Horseriding: there are a number of stables in the valley in Restabal and Albunuelas and also up in Lanjaron. Great area for hacks through amazing scenery.
How to get there
Malaga airport is 1 1/2 hours easy drive along very empty motorway with only short distance of the windy coastal road to navigate. Soon the motorway will run all the way from Granada to Malaga.
Granada airport (30 mins drive) - Direct flights with BA from London City, and many connections from Madrid, Barcelona and Paris and other European cities.
Supermarkets and amenities (Talara) 1km. Nearest larger town, Durcal, approx 10 mins drive. Granada 20 mins drive/Alhambra 30 mins. Alpujarras 30-40 mins drive (20 mins to Lanjaron). Sol y Nieve, Sierra Nevada Ski 45mins drive and Costa Tropical. Coast 25 mins - Salobrena, 30 Amunecar and 45 to Nerja.
Amenities: While there isn't an actual supermarket in Chite itself, there are three within a couple of minutes drive or easy walking distance in Talara/Mondujar and there are daily services by little vans bringing in everything from fruit & vegetables to fresh fish & frozen produce. You know they’re coming because they beep their horns as they’re approaching and usually stop at the end of our lane.
The nearest supermarket also sells fresh bread, meat etc. The petrol station also sells necessities, which is quite useful when the supermarkets are closed. It also doubles up as an internet café!
For a larger Coviran, Dia and soon to be opened Mercadona supermarkets go to Durcal – one stop up the motorway towards Granada. For the more adventurous or a huge shop, Carrefour is 20 mins up the motorway on the outskirts of Granada. Mondujar and Murchas also have a bakery and the nearest post office and butchers is in Talara.
Talara is also where the local bars are situated. This is an easy walk or one two minutes' drive. There is a little locals bar in Chite by the plaza, which is open irregular hours - usually in the evening and also sells ice lollies, sweets, cold drinks etc.

About the Owner
Originally from the UK but having lived in Australia for 11 years prior to returning to England, the owners loved the peace and tranquility of the Lecrin Valley and the little village of Chite (pronounced ch-ee-tay, not shite!).
The valley has amazing weather and a laid back atmosphere. There's plenty to do in and around the valley, while being away from the hordes on the coast, but near enough for days at the beach and trips into Granada city for the day or for dinner outings.
It's the perfect home away from home.
