Character Bed And Breakfast In Old Watermill
Peaceful Location In Suisse Normande 15 Mins Drive From Two Large Towns
Bed And Breakfast With Two Guestrooms
Our 18th century converted watermill is situated in a quiet valley in Suisse Normande where the sound of the river and birdsong are usually the only sounds you will hear in our two acres of garden and orchard.
Beautiful walks can be taken directly from the house as footpaths and quiet lanes lead in all directions. There are many nearby attractions, including the riverside town of Clecy, where cycling, kayaking, pedalos and climbing can be enjoyed. Clecy also has a superb golf course.
If you are a keen cyclist, the surrounding area is fantastic - as an ex-professional cyclist (Australian team) I find the roads and lanes are the best I have ever ridden, with little traffic and well-kept surfaces, it is sheer pleasure!
The valley is a wildlife haven with wild roe deer, red squirrels, pine marten and wonderful bird watching. There are historic gardens, castles, museums, art galleries and Second World War sites within easy driving distance.
We are ideal for an overnight stop on your way south or for a longer break in this lovely region.
Le Moulin Maison (2 Guestrooms)
Le Moulin Maison is a character Bed and Breakfast situated in the fabulous region of Suisse Normande. Very comfortable bedrooms with en-suite facilities in converted watermill. We can supply a cot and highchair if required, at no extra charge. Well behaved dogs are also very welcome for which there is no charge.
Property Type: Guesthouse
After a long drive or a great day out, enjoy relaxing in the garden at one of the many tables and benches by the riverside. The whole two acres are there for you to enjoy anytime during your stay. Why not enjoy a game of boules or badminton on the lawn, or just relax with a glass of wine.
Important notes on accommodation
Both guest bedrooms were part of the old watermill but are now very comfortable with heating, tea making facilities, showers and lovely décor. Both have tv/dvd/radio and free WiFi. We have a selection of books, games and puzzles and a comfortable and characterful sitting room with log fire during the winter/spring/autumn. You may choose to dine in our farmhouse kitchen where we prepare evening meals using as much local produce as possible - if you have a special diet or allergy, we can consult with you beforehand. We offer a selection of good French wines or non-alcoholic drinks to accompany your meal.
Location Type: River, Rural.

"A Little Piece of Heaven"
We had a wonderful stay here. Teresa and Bill were so welcoming and went out of their way to look after us. We arrived late in the evening and were thankful we'd ordered an evening meal which was absolutely delicious. The house is set in such a beautiful, scenic area and we loved the peace and tranquillity of it and the fact that it was within easy reach of lots of interesting places to visit. We wished we'd had longer! The room was lovely and clean, and very spacious and comfortable and we are still missing the wonderful breakfasts. A really relaxed and homely place to stay..I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

We've had the most wonderful 3 nights in your lovely home. The garden's fantastic, our daughter [7yr old] loves exploring. We especially enjoyed playing badminton. Thank you for being so friendly and welcoming to all of us. Your local knowledge is impressive - we would never have known about the park with the ruined chateau. We loved our room with the large en suite bathroom, the bath being perfect for our daughter and the shower perfect for us. Thanks for a great stay! Anna & Matt (UK)
After the long flight from Australia, arriving at your gorgeous house was like paradise. You made us feel so welcome and "at home". The meal was delicious - 3 nights was not enough so I hope we return one day. Thank you so much. Lily & Denise (Perth, Australia)
Thanks for one of the best holidays ever - being a single traveller can be daunting but I felt so at home at your beautiful old watermill. Thanks for all the tips on local places & Battle of Normandy. My room was lovely. Jenny (London)
About the Owner
Having spent many wonderful holidays in France, we decided to live here permanently. We knew this part of Normandy very well and had always been enchanted by the beautiful scenery and friendly people. Having run an award-winning tearoom in England for some years, we felt that offering bed and breakfast in our own home in France would be a great way to meet people from around the world. We indulge our love of walking and cycling and are very interested in the wildlife of the area. We enjoy hosting meals for our guests and hearing about their travels and the places they live.
Year property purchased: 2010
Why this location?
It's so peaceful and unhurried; the roads are quiet, the wildlife is amazing, the people are lovely and welcoming. Although we live in a rural location, we can drive to many towns with excellent shopping and dining facilities in a very short time. Walking or cycling the lanes with few cars is a wonderful experience in any season.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
Guests love the peace and natural surroundings, but with the convenience of being central to so many of the well known (and lesser known) attractions of this part of France. Being on such a lovely river as the Druance adds to the charm of the setting, and although we are situated in a valley, the site is very open with sunshine all day long. The garden is delightful and sitting on a seat by the river just listening to the sound of the water and the birds you feel a million miles away from the frantic life happening "somewhere out there".
