Nice villa with excellent pool
10 of us stayed at Villa Madelena. The Villa itself is an excellent size. All the bedrooms were big and had plenty of room. The villa is a little dated but nothing that would ruin your holiday. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything that we needed. We had lots of bbq’s & used the pizza oven one night.
The pool was amazing - really big. We used it everyday and even had an evening swim.
One of the reasons we chose the Villa was for the location as we wanted something within walking distance of the town and had a train station as some of the party didn’t want to hire a car. Both of these things were true, however, the Villa is half way up a VERY steep hill. One of our party is unable to walk very far so couldn’t venture out. Taxis are non existent and Uber don’t run in Acqui Terme so there is very little way of getting around other than walking or hiring a car. The centre of town was about a 15 minute walk away but beware of the hill climb on the way home.
Some of our party hired a car for a week. I’m really glad we did as we wouldn’t have been able to do much at all. We visited some lovely local villages with Alba being a favourite.
Acqui Terme isn’t a touristy place so you get a real feel for Italian culture.
I would also take plenty of mosquito repellent, we all got bitten loads! We spent a small fortune on citronella candles which we lit during the evening.
Overall we had a pleasant stay but I would 100% hire a car if I was to return.
