Cosy apartment, good location and very helpful host.
The apartment was exactly as we expected, descriptions are all accurate. It's a great location, only a few small steps and close to the main streets. It's really quiet too and the excellent glazing meant we could sleep in undisturbed. The alleys of the old city are close together; this keeps things cool in hot weather but makes for few views and it is rather dark inside, but the decor is cheerful and the lighting is fine. The apartment is on the second floor.
The kitchen is faily basic, but we didn't cook there. The bed is comfy and the shower is good and roomy. There were lots of towels, plus spares in the drawer. There was a big bowl of citrus fruit - very welcoming and delicious as juice. The bed was comfy.
From my first email to the last, Petrica always responded quickly and helpfully. On arrival the taxi was there to meet and greet us, with a lovely driver who told us what to do. We then were introduced to Damir who took us to the apartment; everything went exactly as planned.
We had a problem with the washing machine door opening; Patrica took over the sorting out and told us to have a good day - brilliant! We got home to the problem resolved.
Our taxi on our departure was different; he was polite and had a lovely car, but was on his phone most of the journey, driving with one hand. Not as good as Andrija.
The breakfast included in the price really set you up; eggs (3!) fried or omlettes with ham/cheese/mushroom/toast or museli with fruit or continental, good strong coffee and juice, all served by the nice waiters at Festival Cafe.
We always felt safe (I'd be happy to be a lone female there) and the people are friendly. We had a fascinating day trip to the Mostar Bridge with Adriatic tours. The war museum/ cable car ride was another good day. We also did a ferry across to Lokrum island and had a very civilised glass of cold wine in a beautiful garden there. Our favourite restaurant was The Dubrovnik - great food and fabulous service. Sunday nights there is a concert of guitar and flute in the old Fransican church, which was excellent.
We loved Croatia and want to go island hopping next time!
