Heres our top 10 favourites: Explore the river. Grab a crab sandwich or pasty, some local ginger beer and head off on a ferry boat or river trip. Amble round Dittisham, and have cream tea or a drink in the charasmatic Ferryboat Inn and return by boat or walk back along the Dart Valley Trail.
Walk to Dartmouth Castle on the headland, go down the steps to Castle Cove and enjoy the peace and view out to sea. Have a coffee at the cafe and take the ferry back to the town.
A bracing cliff top walk. Take the car to Little Dartmouth (2 miles) and do a circular walk along the coastal path, sit on a bench and look out to sea.
Beachcombing. Take the car and park at Blackpool Sands (4 miles) walk the length of the beach, skim stones, watch the surf and have an organic light meal and coffee, if its winter time there will be a log fire burning inside the cafe.
Wacky but Wonderful. Take the car or ferry to Totnes, experience the quirky, ethnic atmosphere there, have a mouth watering lunch at Willows, a vegetarian cafe and wander round the colourful markets (Friday and Saturdays), buy some local produce.
A Romantic evening. Dress up and walk along the embankment to dine out at one of the superb restaurants here in the town.
A level afternoon walk. Walk to the higher ferry, cross the river and walk along the railway line to Kingswear in the sunshine and have a drink in the Ship Inn before returning on the Lower Ferry.

Here's a few comments from our guests who stayed this year (2014).
Avanti apartment is a little piece of heaven! We arrived stressed and exhausted and staying here was the tonic we needed. From the moment we were welcomed by Di and saw the beautiful Xmas tree we started to chill out. We came for the Xmas market, Santa arriving by boat and the lantern parade. It was truly magical. The shops in Foss Street have so many unusual things Ė have finished Xmas shopping and will return. Love it! L&D, Kent
Best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Luxurious. Di and Nigel most considerate and kind hosts. Will not hesitate to recommend to friends. Energetic walking week in fine weather and highly recommend conducted tour of Naval college and boat trip to Totnes. Greenway very interesting. Hope to return to dear old Dartmouth one day. Thanks Di and Nigel for a great week. PS Diís scrap book and info files are very interesting and worth a read. R&P, Market Harborough
What a truly wonderful place to stay. Beautifully designed apartment, so light, bright and inviting. Everything you can think of, or would want is here. Itís like a home from home and Di, what can I say? Such a warm, friendly person and the font of all knowledge! What she doesnít know about Dartmouth and the surrounding area could fit on a postage stamp. So helpful and informative with any queries we had and all the leaflets, maps etc. were a bonus. When the weather was bad there was a really good selection of DVDs, so handy when rain stops play! So thank you, Di and Nigel for a wonderful Regatta week. Will be back Iím sure. Missing Dartmouth already ? xx. PS. The welcome bottle of wine went down a treat. C&P, Redditch

About the Owner
Hi, I'm Di Collingswood, I've lived & worked here at Capri in Dartmouth for 9 years with my architect husband Nigel and cocker spaniel, Bella. We work from a studio here at Capri. Dartmouth has a unique charm, a magnetic appeal; when I am away from here I cant wait to return.
Apartment Avanti was designed to be incorporated within our house but have its own separate entrance, patio & self catering facilities. The improvements here have taken 2 years and I hope you will be suitably wowed! You are assured of a peaceful and relaxing holiday here at Avanti and know that you will fall in love with Dartmouth as I did. Being able to walk into Dartmouth, park and sit outside you wont have a dull day or be disappointed.
I look forward to welcoming you!

Why this location?
I love not having to use the car as all the facilities I need are within walking distance, parking outside our house in a quiet road is a bonus & having a sunny aspect. The town is so friendly and there is little crime. The Dartmouth Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta bring the community together, they are unmissable unique events. There's always plenty going on in the Summer but the Winters are quiet, time for beach walks and log fires in pubs with old world charm. Mild Winters, sunny Summers breathtaking Devon countryside and coastline, cream teas, crab sandwiches, chocolate box villages, river trips, surf on the shore; whether you are visiting for the first time or returning after many years you will find Dartmouth charming you back for more.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
Apartment Avanti is within walking distance of the town for all your needs. Although a short car ride to the top of the town provides for the larger food supermarkets and a petrol station. From the apartment you can walk the Dart Valley Trail, coastal walks, and scenic walks to view points above the Dart. A lido swimming pool in the Summer months is at the top of the town and a luxury Spa is part of the Dart Marina Hotel on the river frontage where they offer heavenly treatments. Greenway the newly opened National Trust Property where Agatha Christie lived is a short river trip up the river Dart. Further a field are the market towns of Totnes and Kingsbridge. The Eden project is approximately 1.20 minutes. With so much on the doorstep you wont see it all on your first visit.
