About this property

Villa In Sioli, Between Umbertide And Gubbio.

Perfect for families and large groups, Casa Collina is ideal for those seeking privacy in a rural setting in the heart of Italy. Casa Collina offers a very high standard of accommodation, with travertine floors on the ground level and solid oak flooring in the bedrooms. It is equipped with modern luxuries and traditional stylish antique furniture. This villa comes with its own private 14x5 metre pool. You can relax under the gazebo by the pool surrounded by attractive flower filled gardens, whilst admiring tree lined hillside views on all sides. Set on a hillside amid olive groves and vineyards, Casa Collina is near the medieval town of Gubbio. It has good access to Perugia, Assisi, Florence, Siena and the facilities of Lake Transimeno. Riding, sailing, cycling and water skiing are available on the Lake. A golf course is 20 minutes drive away. The owners take pride in providing well presented accommodation and strive to ensure you have an enjoyable holiday.
The Villa is spacious and well equipped. The large kitchen with an adjoining dining room is great for preparing meals and eating in should the temperatures be too hot on the patio just outside. The owners too enjoy cooking so there is an extensive collection of cookery books and plenty of kitchen equipment. The sitting room is self contained to allow for television viewing or listening to music. There are three double doors leading from the sitting room to the gardens which creates a wonderful 'inside/outside'ambience.
There are four double bedrooms. All have ensuite shower rooms. The master bedroom has a super kingsized bed, two have double beds and one has twin
beds. All windows have fitted mosquito nets which is particularly useful in the bedrooms to allow for well ventilated bedrooms on warm summer nights!
The outside area features pretty lavender and rose filled flower beds. The swimming pool is a 'good' 14m x5m size and is not too deep which is perfect for young children. Next to the pool is a 10m long gazebo which gives good shade from the sun in the height of the summer. Nearby is a large stone built tettoia or barn which a great games room. It features a full sized table tennis table, dart board and hammock. The owners can provide lilos and other 'games' suitable for using in the pool.
The drive provides access to the front door of the house. There are fences which are safety features screening little children from the swimming pool.
At the top of the steps to the loggia is a table and four chairs which gives a great view of the pool and garden area. There are two other patio areas both next to the kitchen, one is in full sun all day, the other has shade for most of the
day so there is ample choice for places to sit to enjoy a coffee or glass of wine!

Spacious, comfortable house in peaceful setting
A spacious and comfortable house in very peaceful setting. The house is set in a tranquil position but easy and quick to reach the main road for access to Umbertide, Gubbio and further beyond. The local café/restaurant is very close so you never need wander far on lazy days. The lovely stone building has a large kitchen/diner, with all the implements and cookery books you might need, as well as large comfortable bedrooms and living room. Also plenty of places to sit out as the sun goes down. The regularly maintained grounds and pool help you relax in or out of the sun during the day.

Spacious and luxurious
We had a wonderful week tucked away in the Umbrian hills near to Gubbio. The generously proportioned villa and pool more than met our expectations, and we hope to return next year.

Beautiful villa in peaceful rural setting
Within easy reach of the main road , local town and surrounding restaurants this villa nestles in the Umbrian hills and provides a peaceful get away from it all retreat. The villa is very new with a bathroom for each bedroom all beautifully modern and clean and has a very spacious feeling with a high standard of construction. The lofty master bedroom is particularly stunning and the living room with windows on two sides and stunning views of the hills. The house manager is English and extremely helpful and friendly. There is plenty to do around and about. Our highlights were: a winery tour, visits to numerous stunning medieval hill towns, white water rafting, local motor racing hill climb to watch in Gubbio( end of August)Our highlight restaurant has to be Organic restaurant (Calgara) Niccone valley, dining al fresco on the terrace high up overlooking the stunning surrounding fields and hills as the sun went down. Off the beaten track but worth it! We would highly recommend this lovely villa.

A lovely Umbrian retreat
We are a family with 3 teenage children and found Casa Collina to be an excellent base for our holiday in Umbria. The listing description is entirely accurate, indeed the photos perhaps don't do the property full justice. The house is in a secluded setting, surrounded by its own land, yet within easy reach with a hire car. The pool is excellent and the house interior is well-planned and very comfortable. The property is scrupulously clean and well-maintained whilst the house manager, Paul, is friendly and attentive. The beautiful town of Gubbio is just a short drive away and Perugia is also nearby. There are any number of stunning hilltop villages to explore and the only issue with eating out is deciding which of the many wonderful restaurants to choose. We have no hesitation in recommending Casa Collina.

About the host

Hosted by Michael Merrett

Host profile image
We are a working couple with two children in their early twenties. The Italian house project came about as a result of amazing family holidays spent in similar villas in the Cortona area. We were experiencing the ‘children flying the nest’ syndrome, and needed a new interest that would act as a diversion and steer our life in a new direction. We stumbled on Casa Collina almost by chance and after demolishing the old house, decided the best course of action was to have a fresh start. We are very pleased with the result and judging by visitors comments, others are impressed too.

Why they chose this property

We love the area and feel it is in a good location. We enjoy the fact that the house is in a quiet rural place, but is not far from towns giving easy access for shopping, sightseeing trips.

What makes this property unique

The house is a new building whilst having the charm of an old Umbrian farmhouse design. The house is situated half a mile off the main road from Umbertide to Gubbio, which is easily accessed on a well kept 'white road'. The house is equipped with everything needed to make a perfect holiday. The pool is filled with salt water, so has no strong chemicals in it. There are many good restaurants in the area, but should you want to eat in we can arrange for a meal to be prepared. The meal will be cooked on site using the best local ingredients and will be served and tidied away so the holiday feeling is still there!
All visitors have been pleased to stay at Casa Collina. Paul and Anita our house managers are extremely thorough and ensure that the house is presented in a impeccable manner.
