    6 bedroom beautiful house with private plunge pool and wonderful views from 4 of the 6 bedrooms of the sea and the back of Table Mountain 2 bedrooms to the rear have limited views. Situated in very picturesque town of Gordon's Bay, widely advertised as the safest town in South Africa. Ideally located for visiting all of the main attractions and tourist areas on the Western Cape. 10-15 minutes walk from beaches return to house is a fairly steep hill, cafes, restaurants, book shops, beauty salons and supermarkets. Air-conditioned. Internet access. The area is also a malaria free zone. The cost of living is very reasonable. English is the main spoken and written language almost everywhere and they drive on the same side of the road as the UK.

    Accommodation description

    Bedrooms:
    Bedroom 1 - double bed.
    bedroom 2 – double bed, en-suite.
    bedroom 3 – double bed, sofa bed, en-suite, kitchen area (family style room).
    bedroom 4 – 2 single beds.
    bedroom 5 – 2 single beds, en-suite.
    bedroom 6 – double bed, en-suite.

    Bathrooms:
    2 family shower rooms (1 upstairs, 1 downstairs) and 4 en-suites all have wc, shower, towel rail and mirror wall vanity unit.

    Kitchen:
    The kitchen is equipped with a breakfast bar and stools, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, hob/oven, cutlery, and utensils etc.

    Utility Room:
    There is a small utility room downstairs at the front of our home with French doors, which has a fridge/freezer for extra food/drinks storage. The ironing board is also in this room. A sofa bed can also be put in this room, if required for a 7th bedroom.

    Living Rooms:
    Has a large corner sofa, coffee table and CD player. This is open plan with dining room, TV snug and kitchen.

    Other:
    Our home had a small TV snug with sofa bed. DSTV and Internet Access is available on request (there may be a small additional charge for this). We also have a dining area with large table to seat 10/12 people.

    Cleaning/Towels/Linen/Maid service:
    The costs are inclusive of linen and weekly maid service (additional maid service may be available, for an additional cost).

    Accessibility
    Suitable for disabled access. The driveway is very steep but once in the drive the downstairs bedroom 3 is converted to a small studio apartment with double bed, en-suite, small kitchen area with fridge/freezer, sofa bed & dining table. There is French door access to the lower paved driveway area.

    Outside
    The large upper deck has access the solar heated plunge pool with 4 sun loungers and sturdy patio table with 8 chairs and parasol. There is also access to bedroom 1, 2 and the lounge & dining area from this deck. The lower paved area has French door access from bedroom 3, 4 and the utility room. There is also a BBQ for use on the paved lower area.

    Important notes on accommodation

    The top floor of our home has bedrooms 1 & 2, family bathroom, kitchen, dining area, lounge & TV snug. Both bedrooms, dining area and lounge have French door access to the top deck with heated plunge pool. The downstairs has bedrooms 3, 4, 5 and 6, family bathroom and utility room. Bedrooms 3, 4 and the utility room all have French door access to the paved driveway.

    We require 50% deposit now to secure the booking then the remaining balance to be paid 3 weeks before your stay. When we have received the 50% deposit, we will send you a booking form with your confirmed dates.

    About the area

    Coast/Beach
    Bikini beach is the closest beach, calm seas and warm water- perfect for paddling. There are also a range of cafes along the beach front. Strand beach is a short car journey away this is famous for surfing, lessons are available here. If you are looking for a beach out of this world, Betty’s Bay is approx 30 minute car journey along a lovely coastal road. This is more of a hidden wonder as its not used often by locals and tourists, and our preferred beach when holidaying.

    Golf
    There are a number of golf courses, Strand & Erinvale, to name a few are from 15 minutes drive from our home. Or for the golf enthusiast, travel to Helderberg approximately 45 minutes.

    Skiing
    Blue Rock Water-ski & Wakeboard centre. This is in a disused quarry with restaurant on-site. Only 10 minutes drive from our home.

    How to get there
    Cape Town Airport approximately 30 minutes, drive straight along the N2. We would highly recommend car hire to get the most from your visit and the beautiful surroundings.

    Distances
    Cape Town less than 1 hour drive away, almost all motorway driving.
    Stellenbosch & wine areas approximately 40 minutes drive through a very scenic route brings you to Stellenbosch, in the heart of Cape Winelands.
    Hermanus which boasts the best land based whale watching in the world between October to January, is approximately 1 hour drive.
    Cape Point & Cape of Good Hope approximately 2 hours through Simonstown & Fishheok.
    Somerset Mall 15 minutes drive with lots of shops to choose from.

    Further Details
    10-15 minutes walking distance from Gordon's Bay but return up fairly steep hill where you will find everything from cafes and restaurants, to Book Shops and Beauty Salons and Supermarkets. There is also a great laundry service and some very nice pubs and bars.

    As we have holiday in Gordon's Bay a few times, there is a full range of trips and attractions we have visited, some of our recommendations are below:
    Spier (Moyo)- The 1,500 seater restaurant offers lively outdoor entertainment, bringing the taste of Africa to visitors’ treetop table or stylish tent.
    Grand West Casino and Entertainment- This complex offers ice-skating, cinema, restaurants, ten pin bowling and of course the casino.
    Stellenbosch Wine Tasting- There are lots of very good wine tasting farms in this area.
    Strand Beach- Surfing lessons, this was not as easy as it looks. Although good fun.
    Robben Island Museum- From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned here.
    Table Mountain- Ariel cableway; see Cape Town from the top of Table Mountain. For the more adventurous you can hike up or abseil down the mountain.
    Horse Riding- Can be done on the hills overlooking Gordon’s Bay then finish off with nearby wine tasting.
    Deep Sea Fishing- Charters leave locally form Gordon’s Bay Old Harbour
    Shark Diving- Done at Hermanus, cage dive with Great White Sharks!

    "Xmas Holiday"

    Loved it. Location was perfect, central for all the attractions. House has loads of space and great for allowing own privacy. Views from the house are amazing, view over Table Top Mountain are fantastic. Very handy for local restaurants and close to the large shopping Mall, Summerset West. Only one hour from Cape Town and 30mins from the Airport. Winery within 15 minutes, so many others to choose from. Over all a great location can't wait to go back.

    Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with teenagers and families with young children

    About the Owner

    Im David, I purchased this house in 2002 after a holiday to the area. I have 2 sons Douglas (31) & John (28). We stay in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK most of the year but regularly travel to South Africa to holiday at our home in Gordon's Bay. Obviously its a long way to travel so we can't use it as often as we would like which is why we have decided to rent this to other families like ourselves who are looking for somewhere truly beautiful to holiday.

    Why this location?

    After a holiday in Cape Town about 13 years ago (year 2000)we fell in love with the beautiful area and decided to buy a house. We looked at alot of houses in the Cape Town area but Gordon's Bay seemed the ideal choice with its lovely beaches and fantastic views from the hill. When we bought the house it was 3 bedrooms, we then decided to convert and extend to the full 6 bedroom home we have today.
