Alvor's 4km sandy beach is 20 minutes' walk away, as is the village centre with its unspoilt harbour and traditional cobbled streets. There are several excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk of the apartment and many more nearby in Alvor, Vau, Praia da Rocha and Portimao. The apartment has a reserved, secure parking space in the basement garage.

The apartment is on the second floor. At ground-floor level two low steps provide access to the entrance hall of the building. Two small elevators serve the basement garage and all floors. Wheelchair access to the apartment may be possible depending on chair width and other factors.
Vila Marachique has extensive and beautifully-maintained gardens with children's play area and magnificent pools complete with bar (in Summer).

Prices shown are for the property per week in UK pounds. Special rates may apply for part-week lets and at Public Holiday periods. Discounts are available for small parties (1 or 2 people using only one bedroom) and on lets of 4 weeks or more.
Changeover day is flexible. The apartment is normally available from 15:00 on day of arrival and must be vacated by 10:00 on day of departure.
Telephone/online bookings are held for 7 days and are confirmed upon receipt of deposit (25% of total cost).
Balance is due 8 weeks before start of holiday.

About the area
Alvor's magnificent 4km beach is about 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive. The Eastern end of the beach features coves and rock formations, for which the Algarve is well known. The salt flats at the Western end are an internationally recognised site for bird watchers and other naturalists.
Several others of the Algarve's world-famous beaches are within easy reach.
Alto Golf (Sir Henry Cotton's last masterpiece) is less than 1km away. The championship course at Penina is about 10 minutes' drive and Palmares, Gramacho, Morgado, etc. about 15 minutes. Hire of equipment, tee times and transportation can be arranged at agents in Alvor.
How to get there
Faro airport is 70km away (approximately 50 minutes drive). Transportation to/from Alvor can be arranged at advantageous rates. Public transportation in and around Alvor is plentiful and reasonably-priced. Car hire is available at several outlets in Alvor as well as at Faro airport. Excursions can be arranged at multiple agents in Alvor.
Vila Marachique is 1.5km from the centre of Alvor, 4km from Praia da Rocha and 5 km from Portimao. Lagos is about 18km to the West and to the North, in the hills, is the spa town of Monchique (20km). Lisboa is about 3hrs away by motorway and the Spanish border a little over an hour.
Alvor has shops, restaurants, bars, market, supermarkets, private hospital, banks, post office, etc. Portimao, Faro, Lagos and Silves are of historical and cultural interest. Shopping complexes are available in Portimao and at other nearby locations. The western Algarve coast is dramatic and beautiful, Cape St Vincent being the most south-westerly point in Europe. The Monchique hills, inland, are famous for their spa and cork production.
