Situated up a country lane and with views to the Quantock Hills to the south and west Rowditch, is a haven of peace and birdsong. The gardens are set to lawn with trees, shrubs and flowers with stunning views across the Bristol Channel to Wales. Mature oaks, ashes, hawthorns, hazel and maple surround all perimeters of the property. Three miles away lie the beautiful villages of Stogursey and Nether Stowey, the home of the Romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The Quantock Hills and the coast are each one mile away offering wonderful walks and views. Further afield, but within easy driving distance are Glastonbury, Bath and Wells, whilst to the west lie the wild heights of Exmoor. Closer to home are the market towns of Bridgwater and Taunton with theatres, cinemas and supermarkets, whilst the unspoilt medieval village of Dunster with its grand castle is 12 miles away. Two miles on is Minehead, home to the theme park attractions of Summerwest World and the Somerset Steam Railway.

The property does not have special access for people with mobility problems.
The kitchen/diner opens out onto a large terrace, a beautiful setting for alfresco dining. The grounds of garden, woodland and meadow are completely enclosed and are therefore safe for children to play and explore. There are small swings and slide, and the long meadow is a perfect site for ball games and frisbee. There is a small organic vegetable plot and guests are welcome to harvest the crops that are in season. The sheltered environment means Rowditch is a lovely place for outside living and barbecues. The drive at the front of the house provides ample parking for four vehicles. Well behaved pets are welcome.
Important notes on accommodation
The cottage is available for weekly lets and not for individual weekends. Pets by arrangement. (Supplement of £20.)

About the area
The nearest beaches (1 mile) are Kilve and Lilstock. These are rocky, and are famous for fossils. From these you can pick up The Coastal Footpath, which extends all the way around the south west peninsula. For bathing go to St Audries, (4 miles), Blue Anchor Bay (8 miles), Dunster (12 miles) and Minehead (14 miles). The best beaches are on the south coast (one and half hours drive) and for surfing at Woolacombe to the west (2 hours scenic drive across Exmoor).
There are open golf courses at Dunster (12 miles), Cannington (7 miles) and Taunton (12 miles).
How to get there
Bristol Airport is less than an hour's drive away. Cardiff and Exeter Airports are about an hour and a half. The M5 is half an hour's drive from Rowditch through Bridgwater, using either Junctions 23 or 24. A car is essential for a stay at Rowditch.
The nearest villages are Holford and Kilve. Rowditch is equidistant between these, one mile away from each. The larger villages of Stogursey and Nether Stowey are 3 miles away.
Kilve has a small but good village shop and post office. Local inns serving good food are at Kilve, Holford, Stogursey, Nether Stowey and Crowcombe (4 miles). The nearest supermarkets and banks (Nat West and Lloyds) are at Williton (5 miles).

About the Owner
Rowditch was the family home where our children grew up in a wonderful, natural setting which offers so many freedoms that many children today are denied. We all still love spending time here, walking the footpaths and bridleways and watching the wildlife and the seasons as they change. We still work the vegetable bed - it would be a waste not to - and very much enjoy harvesting the fruits of our labour, knowing our produce is totally organic and taking it straight from garden to kitchen. And of course we are delighted to share it. Here you can relax to the tune of the blackcap and the woodpecker's drumming and learn or re-familiarise yourself with the flora and fauna of South West England.

We love the remote, peaceful setting where we can escape from the rush of town life and yet be able to travel into town and have easy access to modern amenities.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
There is a travel cot available and also a high chair. For a visiting musocian there is also a Yamaha baby grand piano properly tuned and in mint condition.
