The historic farmhouse is set in the valley of outstanding natural beauty on the outskirts of the wonderful and charming Etruscan city of Volterra. It is divided into 4 private apartments which accommodate up to 14 guests and is just perfect for couples, families or even larger groups holidaying together.
Each apartment has been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard. Modern design fixtures and fittings have been carefully tailored to compliment the traditional materials used in the construction of the cross vaulted ceilings, barrel arches, chestnut beams and cotto tiled floors.
Each apartment has it's own private terrace with magnificent views, stretching out across the valley towards churches, monasteries and other historic buildings which cling perilously to the cliff tops around the outskirts of Volterra. The views pass over olive groves, hilltop borgo's, and the iconic tuscan rolling hill landscape extending all the way to the distant Apeninne mountain range.
Each terrace is well equipped for alfresco dining and complete with a cosy fire-pit with plentiful supply of logs to cook on or just to take the chill off those cooler spring or autumn evenings.
There is a newly constructed wood fired pizza oven in one of the communal areas for the use of our guests. Creating your own pizzas and eating under a star lit sky is a terrific experience which can be enjoyed by all. Throughout June you could even be joined by a throng of majestic fire-flies as they go about their nocturnal business!
Adventure playground area with a charming tree house, slides, zipline, bikes, scooters, sand pit and various other toys and activities has been designed in our garden to amuse your little ones.
The valley is popular with hunters and foragers with the highly prized wild boar and truffles keenly pursued in season. There are some relaxing walks around the valley, through woodland with waterfalls and hillsides with breath taking views. Look out for the Poiana and other birds of prey circling over the valley or track the deer and wild boar footprints across our land. Mediterranean tortoise, porcupines and badgers are seen occasionally but you will surely get to meet some of the geckos which frequent the nooks and crannies around the outside walls and terraces.
Guests are welcome to help themselves to the plentiful and varied fruits in season on the trees such as the cherries (May), figs, plums and apricots (July)and the plentiful supply of varied tomatoes and herbs grown at the farmhouse. Enjoy!
Farmhouse (Sleeps 4/6, 2 Bedrooms)

One of the most amazing properties we have stayed in. The views and scenery from the farmhouse are unbeatable. The accomodation is just the right mix of authentic Italy but with the mod cons of the 21st Century. Josh and Louise are very welcoming, you wouldn't know they were there unless you needed them for anything at all. As for the location of the property it is perfectly located to visit all the major cities and towns. Florence, Sienna, Pisa, Lucca all manageable for a day trip. San Gimingnano less known than the bigger cities but well worth a visit, like Volterra lovely cobbled streets with lovely shops, coffee shops delicious ice creams the list goes on. There is a really good supermarket to stock up on provisions for lazy breakfasts, and after a long day sight seeing to make your own pasta dish with a glass of wine, drinking in the perfect Tuscan evening. It doesn't get much better. I would recommend any one of the 4 types of accomodation available and cannot wait to visit again. WE WILL BE BACK.

Set at the top of a deep valley with views that go on forever, the location couldn't be more peaceful or beautiful. Whether you want a romantic getaway or relaxing break with the family it's perfect for lazy days reading by the pool and al fresco dining. The farmhouse is traditionally Tuscan with lovely wooden beams throughout and is equipped with everything you need including a wood-burner if the evenings turn chilly and a dishwasher. My favourite room by far though was the bathroom where you can even soak up those beautiful views from the bath! In terms of location, it worked perfectly for us as a sight-seeing base - we were able to explore not only Volterra with it's gorgeous cobbled streets and architecture which is just a short car journey from the farmhouse; but many more of the beautiful hill-top towns Tuscany is famous for. Sienna was a personal favourite; as was Cortona although a bit further afield! We also loved having the proximity to Florence and Pisa as well as the beach at Cecina. We couldn't recommend the farmhouse and location more highly and will definitely be returning! Many thanks to the owners Jonathan and Louise who were very welcoming; made our stay beyond comfortable; and helped us get the most out of Volterra and the surrounding area. We look forward to returning again soon.

"An amazing stay in Volterra"
We stayed in the Farmhouse for a week during September and had a truly memorable family holiday. The weather was glorious and we just fell in love with this place, a great location and fantastic scenery. The property is owned and run by a delightful British family, who were on hand and incredibly helpful with directions and tips for places to visit and anything we needed. The accommodation was spotless and was beautifully decorated. The house is fairly high up on the side of a valley, which made for some spectacular views across the countryside, as well as the prominent old monastery which was illuminated at night. The very large pool was a treat for the children as was the play area where they spent a lot of their time. Volterra itself is absolutely charming, with its narrow cobbled streets, plenty of restaurants, fascinating museums and archaeological sites, interesting churches and a variety of shops. You also get a sense of real local life, mingled among a scattering of tourists, even within the popular bars and restaurants. We will definitely be returning at some point in the near future to see more of the surrounding area and would recommend staying here without hesitation.

I have fallen in love with your wonderful piece of paradise. I couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate my 60th birthday. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. Lesley, June '11
