Rustic yet Chic Farmhouse Accommodation
Beautiful Infinity Swimming Pool With Spectacular Views
B&B rooms, Studio Suite and Self Catering Cottage
Welcome to La Cuccagna, where we offer boutique style accommodation in a traditionally built Italian retreat, set in the heart of the Umbrian countryside. Situated between Perugia and Gubbio it is the perfect location for exploring the sights of Umbria and Tuscany and our hilltop position offers stunning, unspoilt views over the hills and valleys that stretch into neighbouring Tuscany. La Cuccagna has been passionately restored to exhibit all that you would expect from an Italian country residence. Our farmhouse and private outhouse provide B&B accommodation and 'La Stalletta' (the old cowshed), is a charming one bedroom self-catering cottage. All of these dwellings have been tastefully restored, preserving architectural features such as exposed beams, wooden lintels and stone walls. La Cuccagna is a mythical paradise where it is said you will find ‘life how you want it’ and we are passionate about ensuring each guest finds just that during their stay with us. That maybe just relaxing in peaceful tranquillity by the pool or sightseeing in the local area. But for those who want a little more out of their stay with us, we are on hand to help you get you immersed into the Italian way of life.
We have designed the entire ground floor of our farmhouse to house four comfortable and stylish bed & breakfast rooms. The rooms are either double or twin and all are en-suite, complete with luxury linens, plush towels, fluffy bathrobes and organic, artisan toiletries. Two rooms feature a further pull out bed if required. The bedrooms are complemented by a lovely dining and living area and as you might expect from an Italian retreat, we have brought the countryside into our home by providing a spacious outdoor patio with shaded pergola where you can sit and enjoy the stunning views.
La Cisterna is a detached, studio suite offering a further B&B room, an ideal bolthole for two or for a family of four.
Accommodation includes a delicious continental breakfast (which includes local homemade organic produce) which will set you up for the day‘s activities. Facilities include wireless internet, honesty bar, massage therapist, ‘at home’ catered evenings and pizza and pasta making courses.

All our properties are on the ground floor facilitating easy access for wheelchairs. One bedroom in Casa del Fattore has been specifically designed to accommodate visitors with a wheelchair.
La Cuccagna is set in more than 11 acres of rural Italian countryside abundant in seasonal delights such as wild asparagus, fennel and truffles. We have landscaped around the pool area and the garden where we have planted a number of majestic old olive trees, vines, fruit trees and our own steady supply of fresh herbs.
You are free to explore our grounds and discover the wonders of nature at first hand or you could sit down, relax and enjoy the view in one of the many areas we have created for your comfort. Imagine yourself with a good book or a glass of Italian Red in hand!
Our infinity swimming pool is long enough for your morning exercise or for just cooling off and enjoying the breathtaking views. The infinity edge drops off into the beauty of the Umbrian Hills.
We have built a traditional stone oven which makes the most delicious bread and pizza. Our weekly ‘Pizza Night’ offers the chance to dine straight from the oven under the stars on the veranda.
Important notes on accommodation
We believe it is possible to be environmentally friendly while maintaining maximum comfort for your stay. Therefore we strive to consider the environmental impact of La Cuccagna and observe sustainable practices where possible.
These include the use of small local businesses, carefully selected local materials and natural based products rather than chemicals. Original materials from the house have all been re-used in and around our estate. The property has an under-floor heating and hot water system run by solar power in the summer and from our fireplace in the winter.
Most of our fittings, fixtures and furniture are locally sourced and much of our tableware and ceramics are from various local potters and artists.
When catering we use home grown produce whenever possible (we grow herbs, fruit and vegetables and we make all our own passata, wine, limoncello, olive oil, chestnut products and plenty more) and as a registered organic farm all our produce is free range and organic.
Location Type: Rural.
