Lovely place to stay
Great base for walking around Snowdon. Well equipped cottage. Rayburn provides background heat for the kitchen so you have to get the stove going to get heat elsewhere. Found it cold when we returned home in the evenings until we got the stove going. Downstairs room very large so takes a while to get warm. Property itself has everything you need and local shop in Beddgelert very handy for provisions. Wifi code must have changed so the one sent in instructions didn’t work, but code in folder was correct. You have no control over the Rayburn but it does come on for an hour in the morning to provide heat to the radiators.

Beautiful area!
It is the perfect location to enjoy the area full of beautiful mountains, water everywhere and nice small roads and lots of things to do. The house has plenty of space. Because there are lots of rooms we all had the space to be together and enjoy time on our own. The house is a bit dark and a bit noisy sometimes because of the hot water running through the walls. But the stove is perfect!

About the host

Gina and I live in Anglesey with our much loved springer spaniel Basil. Close by we have our daughter, partner and three grandchildren whilst our other grandchild and mum and dad live in Cardiff. We bought Bron Meirion in 1999 and moved in for three months to renovate it when I became semi retired and we and our family love to use it ourselves when we get the chance.

Why they chose this property

We chose the Nantmor/Beddgelert area because we have always loved walking and it is just as beautiful as the lake district but much nearer. Nantmor has so many beautiful trees and of so many varieties that it is almost like a parkland in the hills and the beautiful Glaslyn pass is minutes walk away. It has its own mini climate, warmer and drier than the hills round about but within walking distance of some of the higher peaks such as Knicht and Moel Hebog. Add to this the proximity of the newly opened Welsh Highland Railway and its like heaven for me!
If you are a beach person there are very pretty coves only 6 miles away at Borth y Guest and if you don't want to cook there are places to eat out in Beddgelert.
The ideal place for a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

What makes this property unique

Bron Meirion was an old blacksmiths forge and has thick stone built walls which make it cool in the summer but warm in the winter with the Rayburn and wood burning stove as well as radiators. Ideal for drying cloths if you get caught in the rain.
The walking is spectacular whether its in valleys, on hills or mountains you can walk from the door in minutes. In summer the balcony affords picturesque views over Nantmor and there is a sheltered picnic table just beyond the parking area where up to three cars can be parked off road.
