    About the Owner

My name is Collette and my husband and I bought Keeper's Cottage in 2001 as a second home. We have 3 children (teenagers) and live in Thame in Oxfordshire.

    Year property purchased: 2001

    Why this location?

We purchased the cottage in 2001 as a second home and when the children were young and we spent all of our spare time there. We fell in love with the cottage because the location is so tranquil and you can forget about the hussle and bussle of normal every day life completely. We bought the property from the National Trust and it was in a sorry state when we purchased it. We spent three years restoring the cottage and gardens, replacing all the period details and making the cottage comfortable and relaxing. In 2006 we decided to take bookings from holiday makers and we worked with the English Tourist Board to ensure that we put in place everything necessary to achieve a 4* rating. We think Keeper's Cottage is a great place to relax and recharge your batteries!

What are the unique benefits of the property?

The cottage is situated in a very convenient location for visiting all the attractions of the Cotswold area. The cottage is in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) and is very peaceful and tranquil. The cottage is grade 2 listed which means that it retains all of the original features. As well as its grade 2 listing there are many covenants in place which preserve the appearance of the cottage and the area, for example, the colour of the outside paintwork is dictated by the National Trust and all plants in the garden must be native to the UK. In spite of this the cottage has every modern convenience (although internet can be tractor speed!) The village of Windrush allows you to slow down, chill out, and live life at a slower pace.
