"A Gem!"

La Bosquet was everything we wanted, in fact the stay exceeded our expectations! Location was great for getting around Normandie, quality of residence was excellent and the hospitality was fantastic. Magda and Richard were great hosts, setting very high standards for everything. Do not turn down any invitation for Magda to cook you a dinner - they are superb! Back again for second visit for Christmas this time with our daughter and family 2 toddlers 22 months and 3 years. What a fantastic time we have all had. Magda's cuisine was beyond belief! The best and most exciting Christmas dinner ALL of us have ever had. Log fires, mulled wine and yet more 'plonk' constantly on the go. We are booking again for next Christmas straight away! Thank you Magda and Richard for a memorable experience

About the Owner

When I first married Richard, who hales from Australia, I used to joke that I could not find a local lad and so had to import one. No doubt the word ‘lad’ appeals to him immensely. I have had a long time love affair with France and enjoyed sharing this with him and after some wonderful holidays exploring the country, it did not take long before he too fell under its spell. After a particularly long and leisurely Sunday lunch the idea of moving over to live unexpectedly popped up in the conversation. Like all the best wine assisted ideas, it got legs and after 12 months of hunting, we found our dream home in a wonderful location and here we are.

Why this location?

We quickly decided that Normandy and in particular the Orne region was where we wanted to settle. The Orne is the most rural department of Lower Normandy with glorious countryside and delightful villages and towns. It is like stepping back to a bygone age with a more peaceful way of life, one where people have time to stop and enjoy life rather than rushing headlong through it. Having fallen in love with Le Bosquet, a lovely house with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, it was an added bonus to find it was on the edge of such a pretty river-side village. All we and our guests could need just a short stroll away. Everyone is particularly friendly and they have not only made us so welcome but extend this warmth to all our visitors.

What are the unique benefits of the property?

Putanges is situated close to the border with Calvados so is within easy reach of the coast and ferry ports which makes it a good choice for a long weekend break. We also have visitors who stay for a week or more to explore all there is to do and see, often returning when they realise just how much they still have to experience. While the easy 45 minute drive from the ferry at Caen makes us an ideal stop off for people heading to or from a holiday further south but by then Le Bosquet will have worked its magic and they too tend to return to linger a while longer.
