About the area
The sandy beach in Akyaka is a pleasant 5 minutes stroll along the banks of the Azmak river. The famous and scenic Cinar beach is 45 minutes walk, or can be reached by a local taxi (taxis are plentiful and cheap).
How to get there
Akyaka is a 55 minutes drive from Dalaman Airport, or 1 hour 20 minutes from Bodrum Airport. Cheap flights are available.
Fly to Dalaman (70km) or Bodrum(85km), Turkey. Owner can arrange transfer or taxi at airport, approx £45 (Dalaman) or £70 (Bodrum). Car hire can be booked locally in advance through owner (approx £20/day).
Akayaka is set midway between the 'county town' of Mugla, and the bustling resort of Marmaris, both of which are about a 30 minute drive. Dalyan with its mud baths and the ancient city of Kaunos are only 45 minutes. For the more adventurous, the famous sites of Ephesus and Aphrodisias are approximately 3 hours drive. Private or group tours can be arranged.
Akyaka has many restaurants, set both on the beach, in the village, and along the Azmak river. Although there is no bank, there are several ATMs, and credit cards are accepted in many of the shops and restaurants (as is sterling, which can also be exchanged with the owner). There are many beach activities available, including kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, canoeing, sailing. Many boat trips are also available, both around the Bay of Gokova (including to the famous Cleopatra's Island), and along the 2 rivers that flow into the bay. There are also many well documented local walks, including the Eucalyptus walk - for which a private guide may be arranged. A special feature of the villas is local cookery lessons, available for a nominal amount.
About the Owner
My name is Caglar (in English pronounced Charler) Bozkurt, and I live in Akyaka close to the Villas Vali, which my family built in 1994. I love nothing more than seeing my guests enjoying a happy and relaxing holiday, and am delighted to see them return year after year.

Why this location?
Akyaka is a beautiful small Turkish village. Whilst it caters for tourists, it is still very Turkish. You can eat at idyllic fresh fish restaurants by the river, surrounded by nature. As well as grilled and fish selections, Turkish cuisine caters very well for vegetarians. The owner's family still run their own farm in the mountains above Akyaka, and will happily teach you about traditional Turkish life, from picking the produce through to cooking over an open fire - and of course eating it afterwards washed down by local beer or wine!
What are the unique benefits of the property?
