Stunning cave house faced in local stone, in the quiet village of pulpite, near cullar, in the Granada Province of Southern Spain. Set in 10 acres of almond and olive trees, with large private pool, this is the perfect getaway for a relaxing holiday. Set not far from three stunning lakes, and the Sierra de Baza, a large natural park, with deer and lots of lovley walks. You will be able to relax outside the cave looking at the mountain of Hinojodra and enjoying the peace of this lovely location.

Large kitchen with woodburning stove, fridge, cooker, table and chairs, all necessary cooking equipment.
Large lounge, with freeview Sky TV, DVD player, CD music center, 2 double settees and double sofa bed. Please note that since the UK satellite was moved T.V. is now very limited.
All linen provided, including bathroom towels, and swimming towels, linen changed weekly.

Good access, the cave sits on level ground and inside is all on one floor, there are only 3 steps, into the lounge area, and vehicles can park directly outside the entrance.
The cave has a large flat area outside, with an 8m by3m shaded area, and a paved area of 3m by 3m, with table and chairs. The pool is for the sole use of guests, and ourselves, and is 13m by 5m, and the pool area is accessed by a flight of steps, with handrail. The pool is 6 feet deep at one end, so young children would need to be supervised at all times.
Important notes on accommodation
There is no washing machine in the cave but washing can be done at the main house by arrangement. Internet access is also available.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the cave per week in euros. Winter long lets 450 euros per month. All rental prices include utility bills and heating. Couples 250euro per week all year!
Change over days are flexible, and will be managed by us, to accommodate mid week flights if required.
Booking can be done either by telephone or on the internet, payment in full on arrival.

About the area
Beaches can be accessed within one hours drive at Mojacar, Aguilas, Garrucha, and many other places.
Several golf courses can be accessed within 1 hour links to these can be accessed by our website.
There is good skiing, in the Sierra Nevada, which is one and a half hours drive.
How to get there
Car hire is essential, to appreciate the area, and to access the coast. The closest airport is Granada (recommended) which is 1 hours drive away. Almeria our 2nd choice is 1 hour 20 minutes drive, Murcia comes next at an hour and a half, and finally Alicante at two hours drive.
The village of Pulpite is 5mins walk but with no amenites. The town of Cullar is 10 mins drive, with all amenites including banks, supermarkets, post office, swimming pool area, lots of restaurants to choose from, petrol station, and of course local spanish bars!
The area has a lot of places to visit and things to do, from the gorge walk in Castrill, to quad biking in Huescar, both drivable in less than 45 mins. The lakes in the area are stunning. Lake Negratine is some 14 kilometers long, with restaurants at the side of the lake. Jabalcon mountain is 1250meters high, and is accessible by car, and gives fantastic views of the area. The wild life in the area is also good with eagles, and vultures often flying overhead at the cave, wild boar have also been spotted within half a kilometer of the cave! For a walking holiday the possibilites are endless just from the cave itself you can walk for miles on the tracks which litter the countryside and never see a soul! A great area for photography and also painting with many features to focus on. The night sky here is fabulous with no light pollution to interfere with the view, and for those who are interested we have our own telescope! We also have 4 mountain bikes which can be hired at 5 euros each per week for the more energetic guests!

"marvellousness !!!!!! didnt know a ......"
My husband pete and I spent the most amazing week at nigel and antheas cave house. We didnt know what to expect but had done a little research into the area. Well it was the most beautiful and peacefull place possible (didnt know such a place existed). Everything you could need was available in the cave from cafetier to pencil sharpener!!!! Nigel was an amazing host providing brilliant info on the surounding area and also further afield to visit beaches and lakes. It was a shame anthea was not there at the time but we hope to return at a later date and will make contact then. The whole place was so clean and the pool area was so secluded it was perfect . Especially with the pool lit up at night. And stargazing whilst swimming I can only imagine !!! Car hire is a must but some of the mountain roads have stunning views but not for the faint hearted. We hope to return and have just as an amazing time again . Thanks nigel and not to forget mack the dog.

"Cave House in Pulpite"
This is our second visit to this lovely cave house in a stunning location. A very quite and peaceful environment, perfect for a relaxing holiday. If you wish to experience rural Spanish life then look no further than this Cave house. Nigel and Anthea are the perfect hosts and nothing is overlooked. This cave has all modern conveniences if you wish to self cater. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants nearby if not. The cave is kept in lovely condition and is very clean. We have a few return visits planned we love it so much.
Recommended for: Age 55+, pet friendly, sightseeing, families with young children and romantic getaway

My partner and I recently spent a week in the cave house, relaxing, swimming and enjoying the peace and tranquility. I don't hesitate in giving this a 5* rating as everything about it was just perfect. From the booking process, Nigel responded quickly to each email query I had, to being at the end of a phone when we got lost on the way from the airport, and meeting us at the junction to Pupite to lead us to the house - to the house and surroundings itself. You had 3 hectares of well maintained land to wander on, filled with olive and almond trees. The cave house itself was clean and cool, with all the amenities you should need for a comfortable stay. The view was beautiful and the cave, although next door to Nigels own property, felt very private. We had private access to the swimming pool which although unheated was absolutely fine once you'd jumped in! Nigel was a great host, always on hand to give us local advice if we wanted, he even took us to dinner one night and gave us an archery lesson! There may only be one review on this website but there are plenty of glowing reviews in the guest books in the cave. I can't say too much about the surrounding area and activities as we were so reluctant to leave the cave and swimming pool! But there are things to do in nearby towns if you choose and Granada is only an hour away. You definitely need a car. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Nigel's place to a friend if you want some time away from it all, a local experience in a private, peaceful location. This was a last holiday before my partner and I have a baby and we couldn't have chosen a better place to take some time out to recharge and spend some quality time with each other before our lives change forever! We'd love to go back - perhaps with the little one next time!

About the Owner
We are a friendly happy couple who like to share our experience of cave living with our guests. Over a glass of wine and some "tapas" we will discuss with you the best areas to visit, places to see, best restaurants to eat at locally, and if needed (as with 2 of our previous guests) take you to the local health centre!!!

Why this location?
We bought our 2 properties because of their situation. We are at the end of a road, so we have no passing traffic. The properties are about 60 yards apart, with conifers separating them, so privacy is provided for both us and our guests. We have 10 acres of almond and olive trees, bordered by several tracks which make this an ideal place for peace and tranquility, walking, painting, photography, cycling etc. The other advantage of our situation is that unlike some other rental properties we are 5 minutes from the main A92 motorway, although you can't see or hear it from the properties because of the terrain, so access to lots of places is simpler from here. The people in this area are all welcoming and friendly and we have enjoyed many a "fiesta" with our Spanish neighbours.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
One of the great benefits of staying here is the magnificent 13x5 pool. Finished in natural stone, and not overlooked by either property, it is a great place to enjoy the sun and relax. You can do what you want when you want, with no restrictions from us. The advantage of staying in a cave is that it is roughly a constant 18 degrees all year round, so in the heat of the summer its lovely and cool,(no problems sleeping at night) and in the winter it is easy to heat.
