Roquetas de Mar is located 30/40 minutes from Almeria airport (approx 45 euros by taxi). It's a popular resort set against a beautiful mountain backdrop, the sunniest area of southern Spain. The property is situated within a Moorish style very pretty complex with a water garden and shared pool. It has a private roof terrace with a shower which is not overlooked. There are many restaurants selling typical Spanish food, tapas bars, shops, banks and beach close by. The beach is wide and long, never crowded and there is a beautiful 10 km promenade to walk. Many of the local hotels have evening entertainment and they welcome visitors. Granada and the Alhambra Palace are a straight forward 2 hour drive or you can visit with a local tour company. The beautiful Capo de Gata national park is 1 hour drive. However if you just wish to stay in the resort a car is not essential, everything you need is on your doorstep. Suitable for winter holidays usually nice sunny days, rarely rains.

Large comfortable lounge/dining room 16.6ft x 12ft. Colour 34" LED TV with Sky, DVD player and DVD's, CD/Radio selection of CD's. Ceiling fan. Air-con/heating unit. Large selection of English books, cribbage, cards, dominoes, scrabble etc. Free Wi Fi.
There is a front terrace with a table and chairs which has the morning sun, the roof terrace has a table and chairs, sunbeds, parasols and a shower. Plentiful parking directly outside. Pretty communal pool with shower and toilets.
Towels and linen provided, property cleaned when vacated.
Washing machine and iron/ironing board available in apartment. Washing line on roof. Towels for pool and beach also provided but please wash them in machine before you go home. Safety deposit box.

The resort of Roquetas de Mar is totally flat. The apartment is up one flight of stairs, with a further flight to the roof terrace.
The apartment is set within a well maintained pretty complex with a water garden and large communal pool set in a grassed area, with toilets and showers available. The large roof terrace is equipped with sunbeds, chairs, parasols and a table, plus a shower, you have the sun on it all day and when it's clear you can see the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The front terrace has a table and chairs and is ideal for breakfast or an evening glass of wine .
Important notes on accommodation
This comfortable apartment overlooks the pretty pool area, it is on the first floor, there is an apartment beneath you but nobody above. The 2 air-conditioning units also provide heating for the Winter evenings. This is a large spacious apartment, light and airy with large windows, suitable for long term winter stays, not a small pokey new build. Everything you need is in the well equipped apartment. The kitchen has just been fully refitted with new units, tiles and ceramic hob and oven. There is a children's play area very close by with swings, climbing frames etc. It is also situated on the local bus route. Within easy walking distance of beach, bars, banks, shops and restaurants. Yet in a quiet location where you can sit on the terrace at night and hear nothing. Free unlimited Wi-Fi in the apartment.

Long lets of over 3 weeks are available at a reduced rate, please email or ring for details. Can be paid by cheque or bank transfer. All prices include cleaning when you leave.
You can arrive and depart on any day and stay for any number of days. Additional days are charged pro rata. Arrival and departure times are dependent on whether there is a changeover. If no one arriving on the day you go you can leave at a time to suit.
A deposit of £100 per week is payable at the time of booking with the balance due 8 weeks before your departure date. This can be pain by cheque or bank transfer. Please wait for confirmation that the dates you require are still available before booking flights. Airport transfers can normally be arranged.
If you wish to stay for 3 weeks or more please email for a price as reductions are available for longer stays, particularly in Winter. Available winter 2014/2015.

About the area
The beach is a 5 min walk, it stretches for miles and there are beach bars and play areas for small children (swings, climbing frames) on the beach every few hundred yards, it is never crowded. You can hire sunbeds and parasols. In summer months water rides and boats are available. There is also a lovely flat, clean promenade along the whole length.
The apartment has views the golf course in Roquetas de Mar, although it is a few minutes drive to the clubhouse. There is a further golf course at Envia 15 min drive and another in Almerimar 25 mins.
How to get there
The nearest airport is Almeria, Ryanair fly there from Stansted, Easyjet from Gatwick, Monach from Manchester & Birmingham. Approx. 30 mins drive to the apartment, cars can be hired at the airport, taxis about 50 euros, or bus to Almeria and change. Almeria Airport is small and taxis are plentiful directly outside. Malaga and Murcia airports about a 3 hour drive. In the resort you do not need a car everything is within easy walking distance. Private transfers usually available by arrangement.
Almeria City is interesting to visit and the old Alcazaba is free to enter. A bus there costs a few euros, there are lots of lovely shops. Granada 2 1/2 hours drive, a local tour operator does trips to Granada to the Alhambra Palace and other places of interest. Almeria airport is approx 40mins, Malaga, Murcia and Granada airports 2 - 3 hours.
In the resort there are many bars and restaurants, you can hire cycles, quad bikes and cars. There is a land train and horse drawn carriage rides. A large modern shopping mall a short bus or taxi ride away with ten pin bowling and lots of lovely shops. The apartment has supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, interesting local shops all within a 5 min walk. There is a water park and an aquarium a short taxi ride away.

More than happy with the property and it's facilities, ideally situated. One of the nicest areas of Spain that any of us have been to. T he four of us had a wonderful holiday. Would certainly return in future not only to the area , but definitely to the same property.

Stayed at the Apartment for the whole month of March, 2014. The apartment is very well equipped, modern and in a superb location. The complex is very quiet and secure. Having been to Roquetas for the last 31 years we were in no way disappointed with are lovely apartment. The owners Sue and Ray were very lovely people and came to visit us at the apartment which was very nice for us. As mentioned in other reviews the location is ideal for everything. The weather for March was nice with only 1 hour of rain for the whole month. Want to go again if the dates are available, in 2015.

"great holiday "
We spent 3 weeks here in October. The apartment was clean, well equipped and comfortable. Close to supermarkets, friendly tapas bars and within walking distance of the beach. The weather was fantastic. 26-30C. Buses stop just outside apartment complex for Almeria and Roquetas and were very cheap. Very little traffic immediatly outside apartment so very quiet and relaxing when sitting on roof terrace with spectacular views of mountains. The grounds and pool area were well maintained and very clean. You can walk along beach promenade onto local nature reserve or to Roquetas, bike hire also nearby. A lovely apartment and resort.

"amazing and relaxing break"
Apartment was spacious and clean with personal touches such as books/games/maps. Plenty of bedding/towels and cooking equipment. The pool is amazing and so quiet lots of beds available. The resort is friendly with lots to do. Clean beaches with showers, yummy resturants, shops, and bars. Amazing tapas at la gamba We had a car and had some great days out but if you didnt there would be plenty to do We will be back next year !!!

About the Owner
We are Ray and Sue and live near Kings Lynn in Norfolk, we have just retired from running a busy pub. We go to our apartment as often as possible, at least 3 times a year. We regard it as our second home and the decor and facilities available within reflect this. During the years we have been visiting Roquetas we have made many friends in the local community. Many people who rent the apartment return again and again.

Why this location?
We bought this property after looking in other areas of Spain because the area maintains it's Spanish origins. Many of the restaurants sell wonderful local Spanish food and the tapas bars are probably the best.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
The best thing about the apartment is the location, not only is it situated in what is regarded locally as the best complex in the resort it is also the best apartment in the complex being on the end so benefiting from dual aspect windows and also overlooking the pool. It is also situated at the end of a no through road therefore being an exceptionally quiet location but still within a few minutes walk of the beach and all local amenities.
