About this property

Ca' Dell'Artista with Balcony and Terrace

A charming two bedroom apartment with a terrace and a balcony on the canal in an enchanting location overlooking one of the prettiest canals in all of Venice. Peacefully situated right next door to the Church and Convent of the Eremite and opposite one of the most historic and well-known restaurants in the city, ‘Locanda Montin’.

Completely restored to the highest of standards and in exquisite taste throughout, Ca’ Dell' Artista is on the second (top floor) facing the Rio Delle Romite (sometimes known as ‘Rio Dell’ Eremite’ or ‘Canal of the Hermits’ in English) and offers air-conditioning and internet connection'.

Its light flooded living and dining area is decorated in a very fashionable and velvety smooth ‘Venetian Green’ polished plaster finish softly echoing the rippling hues of the tranquil canal below, while the enormous living space is further emphasised by its high ceilings and magnificent exposed beams. The large windows offer dreamy canal views while the dainty front terrace is perfect for taking in the gentle comings and goings on the water and for enjoying that pre-dinner aperitivo before venturing out to one of the many excellent local restaurants.

Or cook up a storm in the modern and well-equipped open-style kitchen leading on to the large, furnished second terrace before retiring to one of the two very relaxing and peaceful bedrooms - one with comfortable and elegant twin beds plus access to the second terrace and the other a richly decorated and rather luxurious double, both with charming views over the beautifully maintained neighbouring gardens. The two bathrooms are equally stylish - one decorated in a chic ‘Tiffany’ blue with bathtub and the other in bolder shades with limestone-tiled modern shower en-suite to the master bedroom.

Less than a minute’s walk to the daily activities of a thriving neighbourhood - take a short stroll along the alleyway opposite, with its little illuminated shrine and enticing air of secrecy, before suddenly arriving onto the Fondamenta Toletta, a charming street of bookshops, bar, gelataria, ATM and the canalside tables of the small, but highly popular, ‘Enoteca Ai Artisti’. Also very close to the fine restaurants of Calle Lunga San Barnaba which leads directly to the delightful Campo San Barnaba and, in turn, onto the Ca’ Rezzonico vaporetto stop and the highly impressive Ca’ Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Art, directly shouldering the Grand Canal.

OUR COMMENT

An apartment with a definite ‘WOW’ factor - highly recommended to guests seeking a stylish and very comfortable address in one of the most beautiful and sought-after quarters of Venice.

Lovely accommodations. In a quiet area
We really enjoyed the apartment which was situated in a lovely building overlooking a small canal. The apartment was spacious and light and well equipped for 4 people. There is a small terrace overlooking the canal which was lovely to sit out and watch the world go by, there is a larger terrace facing the internal gardens. The area is very quiet and there are some lovely local restaurants nearby. The apartment was very easy to get to with the taxi from the airport stopping a 3 min walk away. It was so nice to stay in a quieter area but still close to the main attractions.

Milestone Birthday
This apartment was perfect for us. It was spacious and in an area that we were already familiar with. Plus it allowed us the opportunity to explore new places in Venice. It was convenient to several vaporetto stops which we used multiple times a day. We enjoyed it immensely and the staff were most helpful and accommodating as we got to the city later than we had planned. A most enjoyable birthday and experience in my favorite city.

Very Impressed from initial contact to checkout
Couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. I sent several emails with questions prior to booking and was reassured with each little question. Then booked and had questions and they were answered quickly each time... Was a little worried about checking in and our arrival, but that was seamless too. A super nice woman met us when our water taxi dropped us off, showed us the apartment, was aware of some special requests, etc. -- The apartment was exactly as advertised, was much better in person and we had a wonderful stay. My wife and I said that someday we will come back to Venice and instead of taking all the time looking on other sites, we'll contact the ladies at Views and let them take care of us! The day we checked out, our flights weren't unitl later in the night, so they let us keep our luggage at their office. Was extremely comforting and accommodating! Thank you so much everyone, especially Annalisa, who I think I had the most contact with. I really appreciated the quick responses! Hope to be back some day!

Nice area and interior
Great location. We really liked this part of Venice, close to restaurants and bars and the Zatere, yet very peaceful at night being door to a convent. And less than 30 mins walk to Rialto and St Marks Square. The appartment is well done up, and almost everything you need. Good wifi, kitchen equipment, huge fridge. Everything sceptic for a tumble drier. It is perfectly sized for two couples and has a pretty view over a small canal from the sitting room. The only downside is the entrance which very scruffy , actually it's a building site, and twice was flooded by the builders next door. Also we had expected to be able to sit out on the balcony with a canal view, but the terrace is behind the kitchen and looks over someone's garden. Anyway that didn't bother us much as the weather was so good we were out all day so all in all we were very happy with the appartment. And the Views OVer Venice staff to meet & greet us and check us out were very helpful and efficient.

Excellently located but not cheap apartment
Four of us, two couples, stayed here for 6 nights. The apartment is quite large and on the 2nd (top) floor, Americans would say 3rd floor, with no lift. We liked: Excellent location facing quiet canal, but accessible and near good shops and restaurants, the Grand Canal and the Giudecca Canal. The terrazzo floors and the polished plaster walls. The air con, really effective without being obtrusive. The Views on Venice guide is 204 pages long, and has perceptive restaurant reviews. We disliked: Well, nothing really, though the wifi speed varied between 5mps and 0.1mps (mostly the latter), you don't want to spend all your holiday on the internet, do you? This is the third apartment I have stayed in when in Venice, and it is the best, though the most expensive. You get what you pay for. We would be happy to return.

About the host

Hosted by Views On Venice

Host profile image
Views on Venice was founded in the late 1990’s when the concept of short term apartment rentals was in its infancy and rarely considered an option by most visitors to the city. As a ‘thirty-something’ Venetian excited by the new business and communication opportunities offered by the internet, I decided to link up with a close childhood friend in creating a partnership which, at the time, was a novelty in Venice.
The idea we had in mind was to approach the traditional management of my family’s apartments from an entirely different angle, while at the same time resisting the attentions of those wanting to transform my family's palazzo into a prestigious hotel.
Our aim was to offer these apartments, as well as those of friends, for rental to an international clientele who’d take pleasure in the comfort, freedom and authenticity of ‘living at home as a Venetian’ rather than merely observing the city from the confines of an anonymous hotel room or suite.
The common denominator then, as now, was to offer ‘something extra’ amidst an already extraordinary city - an added dimension which turns a ‘stay’ into an ‘experience’ and a 'dream' into 'reality'.
