Our beautiful cottage is located in Lieskovec which is part of Tatranska Strba, High Tatras National Park. This is a classical village with a few shops, a church and a railway station. The ski resort of Strbske Pleso is only a few minutes by train with some of the best skiing in the area. Here there is its finest feature the alpine pleso (lake), where you can enjoy a drink and meal with spectacular views. It is a starting point for alpine hiking with many well signposted treks for all levels. Details of treks can be givern for the serious walkers. Strbske Pleso also has a spa, swimming pool, shops and restaurants. The area still offers great value for money despite it joining the euro. Food and drink in the main resorts are competively priced with a meal for 2 at around 12 euros. The local restaurants are even better value.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per night in UK Pounds.
A £50 deposit against damages is required, although we will not charge for small accidental breakages such as crockery.
A 10% discount is available for stays of over 10 nights (excluding Christmas).
Changeover day
Changeover day arrive after 2pm and leave by 11am to allow time for cleaning.

Notes on accommodation
The accommodation is located in a secluded alpine area and is heated by electric heaters, has an open fire in kitchen/diner (wood supplied) providing further heat to the house. No pets or smoking allowed. This cottage is suitable for families or couples who enjoy a naturally beautiful, peaceful location and are not to far from the local resorts. The large garden is great for children to explore and use for outdoor activities. Please see website for more pictures and information. Please note we do supply wood for the fire and the cottage is heated with electric panel heaters, but we have a fair use policy.

Outside
Large garden which is suitable for relaxing, socialising and activities. There is a large barbecue area with seating and a stream located to the rear of the property.
Golf
Set in a stunning location is the state of the art 18-hole golf course "Black Stork" located at Vel'ka Lomnica, close to Poprad and accessible by car. The complex includes golf driving range, 9 hole golf academy, restaurant, coffee bar, golf shop and indoor golf. For those not participating in golf there is a fitness centre, relaxation centre including massage, pool, sauna and children's area.
Skiing
The main ski resort of Strbske Pleso is 5 minutes away by train. Other ski resorts are Stary Smokovec and Tatranska Lomnica easily accessible by car or direct train from outside the property. These resorts offer good skiing at great value for money. A ski lift is also located 200 meters from the property.
Travel
Flights from the Luton, Manchester and Dublin to Poprad with danube wings. Is the most convenient. Other options include flights to Bratislava, Kosice or Krakow. The nearest airport is Poprad a 25 minute drive.The cottage is accessible by train from Poprad via Strba or Strbske Pleso.
Car hire is recommended to take full advantage of the beautiful country and activities but not essential. Car hire starts from approx £20 per day inclusive based on 3 day hire, which we can arrange.

The cottage is located in the village of Tatranska Strba.
The closest supermarket is a 10 minute walk. The closest train station of Tatransky Lieskovec is a 5 minute walk. Lidl is located in Svit a 10 minute drive. 24 hour Tesco hypermarket is located in Poprad 20 minute. The town of Poprad is 25 minute drive. Strbske Pleso 10 minutes by car or 5 minutes by train. Liptovsky Mikulas for Tatralandia the new water park and wild west show is 25 minutes by car.

Further details
Local hotels have restaurants and bars. A typical meal cost 4 euro and beer around 1 euro.Highlights include: walking, climbing, cycling or skiing at Strbske Pleso.
Cable car from Tatranska Lomnica up to the lake Skalnate Pleso for stunning views and then continue up to the towering 2634m summit of Lomnicky Stit.
Extreme Toboggan track suitable for all and Tarzania for the ultimate in high wire forest adventure course of rope bridges, Tarzan Swings and zip slides up in the trees. Appealing to a wide age range, in Demnanovska Dolina.
Other activities located close by include horse riding, white water rafting at the dunajec river, paragliding, rock climbing and absailing. Visit the museums and castles of kezmarok, Levoca, orava and Stara Lubovna also the Dobsinska Ice Caves.
Don't forget to visit Slovakia's and the Tatras forgotten gem Aquacity in Poprad, which is built over a massive subterranean, geothermally heated natural underground lake. The perfectly pure water and heat has a relaxing influence on muscles and helps calming joint pains and has healing effects on skin and increased blood circulation. The resort also has Cryotherapy treatment, holistic steam rooms, saunas, a jacuzzi, ice caves, outdoor thermal pools, water slides and other attractions.
Tatralandia located in Liptovsky Mikulas is a complete adventure water park playground for the kids, which has a large outdoor and indoor area, with 28 slides, wellness paradise, the pirates of the caribbean island plus lots more. Besenova thermal park which is another fantastic place for the kids which also has the geothermal water pool with temperatures of up to 40 degrees C great for the adults who want to relax.
