Originally, an old run-down and forgotten farmhouse, Santa Croce has been restored with great enthusiasm, love and care. The property has an excellent position and lies midway up the hillside with views over the valley in unspoiled countryside. It has good and easy access.

Notes on prices
Prices are per property per week in euros. All rentals include electricity, gas for hot water, linen and towels but please bring your own pool towels. Heating during the cooler months is at additional cost - please enquire. Wood for the fireplaces is available at a small additional cost. Long winter lets welcome.

There is a charming terrace at the back of the house flanked, on one side, by olive & walnut trees and is completely private. This small independent cottage is set apart from the main farmhouse. Large and spacious living/dining room (front door opens straight into this room) with open fireplace and the kitchen area. A dining table seats 6 and the sitting area has a comfortable sofa and easy chairs. In the garden, there is a private terrace for dining al fresco. An outside staircase leads from the side of the house to a covered loggia housing a table and chairs to seat four. |

A wide brick walkway/ramp leads to the front door of this apartment. It is light and spacious. This apartment has been specifically designed for disabled visitors and is fully wheelchair accessible. Assistance may be needed on the ramp leading to front door. |

Notes on accommodation
The interiors are light, sunny and welcoming.
When restoring the property, it was of great importance to retain and use attractive Umbrian fabrics and antique country furniture. All apartments have central heating, open fireplaces, double glazed and screened windows with outside or inside shutters, terracotta floors, satellite TV and telephone (no telephone in Il Cipresso). All kitchens are fully equipped. Modern bathrooms in each property. There are 2 washing machines for guests' use in an outside utility room. We regret that animals are not normally allowed at the property - if this is of importance please enquire.
Accessibility
Il Noce Apartment - this apartment has been specifically designed for disabled visitors and is fully wheelchair accessible.
Outside
Pool 5m x 12m, usually open from May - September, sun loungers and umbrellas provided. All terraces are furnished with teak outdoor furniture and large umbrellas. The property is surrounded by one hectare of own land and no other houses are nearby. The private road ends at Santa Croce, so no traffic or other noise will disturb the quietness of your holiday. Trudy and Peter, our English housekeepers, will be delighted to organise a barbecue for summer evenings. Enjoy total peace and the quiet of the countryside yet, within only 10 minutes short drive, one can be in the bustling market of the nearby town or enjoying a glass of wine on the piazza.
Golf
Antognolla golf course, an 18 hole championship course, is situated nearby. The course is open to our guests and has a driving range, a small club house, a bar and changing facilities. There is a range of golf clubs, buggies and carts available to hire. Please enquire for details.

Further details
The property is surrounded by olive groves and young cherry and walnut plantations and, during the months of May and June, the fields and hedgerows are filled with wild flowers. The swimming pool is set apart from the house and there are umbrellas and sunloungers provided.
The entire property also makes a perfect location for family reunions and small groups of friends. Santa Croce is looked after by a resident English couple who are always on hand to help.
There is a lively market at Umbértide every Wednesday. All sorts of shops and supermarkets as well as recommended restaurants can be found in and around the town. All the famous historic places like Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Spoleto, Orvieto, Florence etc. are within easy reach. Or if you prefer to visit the rather unknown spots, we'll be delighted to share our knowledge of the area with you!
