A comfortable, self contained apartment in our large house in the quiet, Hunsruck village of Altlay. The accommodation sleeps up to 8 persons in 2 large double bedrooms with a sofa bed in the lounge and 2 additional childrens' beds available. The accommodation includes a fully fitted kitchen, comfortable living room and recently refurbished shower room. A small, east facing balcony enables breakfast to be taken by the light of the rising sun. Altlay is a typical, friendly Hunsruck village with two restaurants amid beautiful forest scenery yet only 10 minutes from the town of Zell on the Moselle Valley in the heart of the wine producing area. Hahn airport is only a 10 minute drive away. Excursions to the Rhine Valley (45 minute drive) and Luxembourg (1hr drive) will ensure an enjoyable holiday.

Notes on prices
The weekly rental is based upon up to 2 people staying. Additional people will be charged at £25 per person per week.
Changeover day
The usual changeover day is Saturday but please enquire if you require a different day. We will always help if possible.
Unless by pior agreement, arrival time is 3pm or after and departure time is by 11am.

Hahn airport is a 10 minute drive away and car hire is available at the airport.
The channel ports are about 5 hrs drive.

Zell is 6 miles away and Cochem about 20 miles.
Further details
Altlay has 2 restaurants but no shops. Zell has a full range of shopping including a Globus hypermarket. Banks are also available in Zell.

We ask for a £50 deposit on booking with the balance payable in cash upon arrival.

About the owner
After many years working as a tour manager in germany I took the plunge and, with my husband, moved here in a very snowy January 2011. We had a large self contained flat upstairs in our house and decided to turn it into a holiday apartment so that we could share our love of this area (and its wine) with others.
We live on site and so are able to help with suggestions for excursions, walks etc. We would be happy to discuss your needs over a quiet drink or perhaps a game of darts in our small cellar bar.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Our property is in the Hunsruck Hills just 10 minutes from the Mosel Valley (Moselle Valley) and is set in beautiful scenery at a height of about 400 metres.
We appreciate the closeness to the river, but the quietness of the area and its many beautiful walks persuaded us to buy here rather than in the valley itself.
Unique benefits of the property
Altlay is fortunate in having two restaurants in the village. Gastehaus Schmidt is a historic pub serving traditional German fare but is also happy to cater for vegetarians such as my husband. There is also the Hotel Morsbach with a lively restaurant.
