Notes on accommodation
The property consists of a listed main building with 2 floors for guest accommodation. The house is decorated with international guests in mind, there are plenty of travel adaptors of various types, a hairdryer, iron and ironing board and spare bed linen should you need it.
Outside
To the rear of the property is a large barn on the other side of a cozy courtyard/patio overhung by grape vines. Garden furniture is supplied, an ideal private spot to enjoy the outdoors and soak up the sunny hot Bavarian sun in summer. The barn, besides a later conversion of a stable into a store room, remains exactly as it was the day the last farmers stopped work. We even found it complete with some farm implements of the time.

There are 5 restaurants and several guest houses in the town, all within a couple of minutes walk from the house. All serve traditional Franconian cuisine and a range of local and Franconian wines.
Prichsenstadt is a uniquely preserved medieval town retaining over 70% of the town walls, watchtowers, moat and town gate. The town is circled on the north side by hectares of vineyards and the south is open farmland and forests.
The town has butcheries, bakeries, antique shops, a small grocery store, banks, and a pharmacy. As well as some lovely picnic and BBQ spots.
Prichsenstadt lies on the edge of the Steigerwald Nature Park which has kilometres of bike and hiking trails. The Steigerwald can be seen to the east, appearing like a range of hills from the Main River valley, but is in fact an escarpment. On top you will find a completely different landscape to explore. The town sits on the plains of the Main River, there are boat tours and plenty of castles and other historical building dotted around to explore.

About the owner
We live in Surrey with our 2 young children and co-own our holiday home in Germany with our parents. We travel here several times a year to enjoy the region and always return feeling refreshed. This property was bought because we love the area and we wanted to share it with our family. We always enjoy it and we hope you do also.
Year purchased: 2007
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We have been coming to Franconia since 1999 when a family member retired in the area nearby. We all fell in love with the region and in 2007 we had the opportunity to purchase this property in this very remarkable town. We have been having happy family holidays here ever since. This area is easily accessible by car or air. We drive most often as it works for us.
Unique benefits of the property
There really is something for all the family in the area. The town is quiet and traditional and a chance to sample the outstanding food and wine that Franconia has to offer.
The surrounding countryside is simply beautiful, the vineyards, orchards and fields around the town are all open to explore. The area is perfect for cyclists and hikers and includes the Steigerwald Nature Park, just a few kilometers away.
For those needing more excitement there are several nearby bigger towns and villages to explore and one of Bavarias biggest theme parks just 7 km away.
