Notes on accommodation
All apartments are very spacious (ca. 720 sq.ft.) and practical, with dark wood stained parquet flooring in the entire living-, hall- and sleeping area. For the colder season a comfortable underfloor heating cares for a warm cuddly climate and the wide french windows seem to project the outer coloured world of the new buildings of the famous italian architect Aldo Rossi onto an imaginable wall of the window side. The interiors have: Fully equipped kitchens with everything needed for self catering. Bright and newly tiled comfortable bathroom. Living room with comfortable daybed (155cm x 200cm), two chairs, 55cm cable TV, wardrobe, dining corner for 4-5 persons, sideboard. Bedroom with one Queensize double bed 180cm x 200cm with comfortable slats and mattresses, bedside tables, wardrobe, chest of drawers, clock radio.
Accessibility
Our apartments are definitely wheelchair friendly: Barrierfree, wide doors, an spacious elevator and enaugh space to roll around. Best options provides Charlie 2 - in this apartment the bathroom's size is ca. 130 squarefeet, but it has a bathtub which might needs a 'tubboard', which you might take with you. The other bathrooms are a bit disadvantageous caused by beeing smaller and wrong door opening angle (toilet behind the door). Please ask for more info you need to know.

Skiing
We are sorry, the winter time bestows Berlin rare and little snow only. The winters become warmer and there is really little hope to get one of the few days in a decade, Berlin becomes a snow paradise. But if this happen once, you will see almost all of the 3.5 million Berliners amuse themselves on one of the 250 feet high debris hills of worldwar II. (It's a special Berlin happening, worth to have a short look at it!)
Travel
Caused by the history of our city, Berlin provides 3 city airports, which causes some confusion sometimes:
TXL Tegel - NW of Berlin - driving distance 7.6 miles
SFX Schoenefeld - SE of Berlin - driving distance 14.3 miles
THF Tempelhof - S of center airport of airbridge - 2 miles.
The brand new central station is another example of Berlin's future architecture. Huge halls let the people call it rail dome - 2.4 miles.
Distances
Living in the neighbourhood of Checkpoint Charlie the most important touristic points of interest are only a stone's throw away - no transport is necessary. The Berlin-Mitte area is the historical center of Berlin and you can reach the famous town's landmark 'Brandenburg Gate' onfoot in about 20 minutes walk. You'll pass the promenade 'Unter-den-Linden', up one side and down the other gives you about a mile of nonstop window-shopping - the shopping mile Friedrichstrasse is also round the corner.
Further details
Condominium and Neighborhood
Your apartment is situated in a new building (2001) with a special architectural ambiance. The attractively composed front with large windows, an imposing entrance and a stylish staircase welcome you to your temporary home in Berlin’s City.
The neighborhood features buildings by well-known architects of our era, such as Aldo Rossi, Peter Eisenman, Matthias Sauerbruch, Prof. Josef Kleihues and more.
At daytime the small street buzzes with people from the close-by offices and tourists from all over the world. Elegant shops in
the vicinity do full justice to Berlin-Mitte, one of our capital’s smartest areas. Parallel to Charlottenstrasse runs Friedrichstrasse with all its dazzling array of luxury shops and department stores (e.g. the famous Lafayette).
At nighttime this central living area is calm, quite and safe (because of the surrounding closed offices) - perfect for restful sleep after a busy, action-packed day.

My wife and I, along with another couple, rented two of these apartments in June 2006. They were both very comfortable and well-appointed. The kitchen was nice, and it was also nice to have a dishwasher and full-sized refrigerator (full-size by European standards). One of the apartments had a small balcony that looked over a courtyard off the bedroom. This is convenient for smokers, as smoking is not allowed in the apartment itself (which, though I am a smoker, was fine with me).
The location is perfect, though. It was only a two minute walk to Checkpoint Charlie and the Kochstrasse U-Bahn station on the U6 line. It was only a slightly longer walk to the Stadtmitte station, which has access to both the U2 and U6 lines.
I'll definitely stay here again.
