The village is set in the Bavarian Alps, and has a breathtaking view of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze. The ski slopes are situated at altitudes ranging from 1200m to almost 3000m, the highest pistes being on the Zugspitz glacier, where the ski season begins as early as the beginning of October and closes at the end of April. Garmisch also provides an ideal back-drop for either walking or mountain biking.
