A two bedroom character cottage, in a secluded rural setting. This part of the Wye valley is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Cottage overlooks a large traditional orchard and is ideal for a peaceful country holiday. Access by road is good, being only 10 minutes drive from the M50 motorway. The Cottage is five miles from Hereford and seven miles from Ross on Wye, thirty miles from Hay on Wye and within easy reach of the Malvern Hills, Forest of Dean and the Brecon Beacons. It is ideally sited for local attractions like Eastnor Castle, The Ross on Wye International festival, the Hay on Wye Jazz and Book festival. Canoeing on the Wye, game and coarse fishing on the rivers Wye and Lugg, sports centres, swimming, horse riding and trekking are all available locally. Walkers have the Wye Valley Walk (five minutes from the Cottage), the Brecon Beacons, the Malvern Hills, and a variety of local footpaths to explore. The area has many pubs which serve good food.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Long weekends out of season £200 Friday - Monday. Part weeks also available out of season by negotiation. Where weekends are already booked, please ask about availability during weekdays.
Changeover day
Booking are from Saturday to Saturday. Arrive after 2.30pm leave by 10am.

Large L shaped kitchen diner with well equipped kitchen: gas hob, electric oven, microwave, freezer and food mixer. There are basic foodstuffs, e.g. cooking oil, flour, herbs and spices in the kitchen cupboards. |

Utility room with washing machine, ironing board and iron, large sink and oil fired central heating boiler. |
| Living Rooms: |
Living room with digital TV, video, DVD, radio, sofa, chairs etc. and woodburning stove in original beamed fireplace. There is a second living room area adjoining the kitchen/diner with double sofa bed and wood burning stove. |

Downstairs cloakroom with toilet and wash basin. Hall with rocking horse. |
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service: |
Linen and towels are not provided as standard but can be supplied by prior arrangement. There is a charge of £8 per person for this. Visitors are asked to leave the cottage in a clean and tidy state. |
Notes on accommodation
The cottage is fully central heated and in addition has two woodburning stoves. All fuel is included in the rental. As this is an old cottage with steep stairs and level changes between rooms it is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility difficulties.

Outside
The cottage has a flower and vegetable garden with a woodshed,a sloping lawn and a paved area with a table and small barbeque. The garden enjoys views of the orchard and the surrounding countryside and there is a bench down by the orchard.
Travel
Fownhope is about ten minutes drive from the end of the M50 motorway at Ross. A car is recommended, although there is a bus service from the village to Hereford. The nearest train station is Hereford. The nearest airport is Bristol. A two hour drive from East Midlands and an hour from Birmingham.
Distances
The Cottage is 1/4 mile from the village of Fownhope. The village has a late opening, well stocked shop,an excellent butcher, hairdresser, two pubs, a medical centre, a garage and a church (C. of E.).
Hereford, 6 miles, has good shops, the Cathedral with chained library and Mappa Mundi, leisure centre and pool, and a new hospital with an excellent A & E dept! Ross on Wye and Ledbury, 5 miles, are both charming market towns with interesting shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants and swimming pool
Further details
Hay on Wye is 30 miles away and hosts both the well known jazz and book festivals. The Forest of Dean is 10 miles, Gloucester 25 miles, Worcester 25 miles, Malvern and its hills 20 miles. The Wye is a mile from the Cottage and the Lugg is three miles away.
Booking notes
A £50 non returnable booking deposit is required, the balance to be paid 6 weeks prior to the letting date. Bookings taken less than 6 weeks from the letting date to be paid in full. A full refund wil be paid for cancellations up to 21 days before the start of the letting date. Cancellation after this time will result in forfeiture of the full rental unless we can let the property for those dates. We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance.
