Considered by most people to be the best resort on the Island of Sal. The modern & contemporary 5 star resort of Melia Tortuga has facilities including 24 hr reception & concierge, elegant wine bar, 4 restaurants, state of the art spa, and well equipped gymnasuim. There are 2 pools (one with swim up bar) and two childrens pools and kids club. The resort is set in spectacularly landscaped grounds situated on the Pronta Preta beach. The apartment has 2 bedrooms (sleeps 4) and 2 bathrooms and has all the equipment and facilities you would expect of a 5 star resort. It is tastefully furnished with the Hotel Excellence Package and is situated near to the beach in a quiet location with a view towards the pool.

Coast/Beach
Melia Tortuga is situated on the fantastic Ponta Preta beach which has miles of sandy beaches. The beach has sunbeds and umbrellas, luxury Bali beds and a diving & kitesurf centre.
There is a beach bar/restaurant on the beach where you can relax and watch spectacular sunsets.

Travel
Melia Tortuga is a 10 minute taxi journey from Sal International airport.
Car hire is available but not essential as taxis are readily available and the hotel provides a free shuttle bus service to Santa Maria.

Distances
Santa Maria which has many bars and resturants is situated 2 kilometres from the hotel with free transport provided. A supermarket and bank is 200 metres away.

Further details
This up and coming holiday destination offers a relaxing holiday with fantastic beaches and pleasnt year round climate.
Cape Verde which is only a five and a half hour flight from the UK has been described as the new Carribbean for Europe.
The local people are warm and friendly. If anyone wants any general information about the island regardless of their intention of booking the apartment or not they are welcome to contact me for an honest opinion of the island. It's important to me that guests enjoy thier stay.

About the owner
Julie & Danny live in North Yorkshire and first visited Cape Verde in 2007, soon after this we purchased this property which was completed in 2010. We would welcome any questions about the resort regardless of intent to rent the apartment or not. For the local people to benefit from tourism, holiday makers need to know what to expect which increase the likleyhood of them enjoying them selves and returning again.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We have visited Cape Verde on numerous occasions and soon relax and adopt the local attitude of "no stress". Beaches are fantastic with miles and miles of white sandy beaches lapped by turquoise seas. The area offers outstanding sports such as windsurfing and kite boarding which are great to watch, and scuba diving which we did for the first time recently was fantastic. Wildlife includes whale watching which is an amazing experience, and at certain times of the year loggerhead turtles return to lay their eggs which hatch in the autumn. The local people are warm and friendly.

The apartment is furnished with the Hotel Exellence Package and situated on the ground floor without stairs to climb. The apartment is in a quiet location but the patio still has a view towards the main pool area. The resort is next to Fantastic beaches.
