Notes on accommodation
Dunas Beach Resort has approximately 50 private S/C villas, and Melia Tortuga resort (the sister site) has facilities which can be used by villa guests.
Tortuga and of course, the beach, are less than five minutes walk away. The location is great for watersports, sunbathing, use of Melia's facilities (spa, massage rooms, bars, international restaurants, kids area, plus more besides )
Perhaps, like many, you simply wish to soak up some sun and relax on the villa's comfortable sun loungers, with a cool drink and a book. When the sun eventually dips, maybe indulge use of the upstairs terrace, and watch a vibrant sun-set over the sea? Become more relaxed, and take your time, with all the self contained facilities to hand, before perhaps visiting a restaurant and some local nightspots.

Accessibility
The villa is airy, bright and open plan. It has a large kitchen, dining area, lounge, plus a ground floor bathroom. Ground floor BBQ terrace. Stairs lead up to further rooms.

Cushioned terrace loungers. Bistro set on top terrace.
Outside 'al-fresco' table, parasol and outdoor dining chairs. Private pool heated naturally by the sun provides for an added luxury.

Every day of the year, Sal's climate averages around 25-30c daytime, with pleasant soothing breezes. Generally no less than 16c in the evenings.

Coast/Beach
The beach is 'on the doorstep' to the villa less than a two to five minute walk away. The beautiful sandy beaches are reminiscent of those in the Bahama islands. Cape Verde is just south of the Canaries, with a Brazilian/Portuguese/African mix. Plentiful internet cafes are nearby, & free WI-FI is in Santa Maria square. For a small fee, Internet is also available at 'Tortuga' reception, across the road.

Special interest holidays
Sal Island is very appealing to lovers of water activities. Most like to sit back and watch the world go by, with nothing to think about other than simply 'fun in the sun'!
Many love the thrill of a quad bike, which can be hired. Alternatively, hire a bicycle, and take it easy exploring. Hire costs about €10 for half a day. Various excursions exist, too, including fishing trips, boat rides, submarine and Island hopping trips. Wildlife enthusiasts may wish to visit in turtle season. A brand new ferry service now operates between islands.

Travel
Airport 10 minute taxi drive away. It is handy to bring drivers' licenses, incase of wishing to hire quad bikes, or a car. Taxis, however, are inexpensive and plentiful, averaging €3 per trip into Santa Maria town. Car hire most people tend not to choose, as most activity lies South Island Sal.

Distances
Santa Maria town is 5 minutes away. Melia Tortuga offers excellent bars, including a piano bar, a late bar, spacious classy restaurants to cater all tastes, spas, massage areas, swimming pools, a child's play area and pleasant, and generally classy surroundings. All available to villa guests and just "next door", so to speak.

Further details
There are many shops which sell food and drinks. Tam Tam bar is popular among British/ Irish and many other nationalities, has excellent bar food, and is centre town, showing all the latest live Sky sports.
There are many more excellent bar restaurants. Melia Tortuga offers international quality cuisine, with daily variations.
Unlimited eat & drink packages are available. Weekly pass offers available too. ATM's plentiful. Eating out varies from German, British, definitely some superb Italian to plentiful fish restaurants, serving fresh fish dishes!
Sal's tourist nationalities are typically friendly locals, British, German, French, Italian, Scandanavian.

Booking notes
Bookings of at least 1 week taken usually with at least 4 weeks prior notice, although late bookings are possible.
£350 ( €420 ) refundable deposit required. Keys must be returned to collection point. This is refunded in full once the property has been checked/ itinerary closed over, and guests contact us on their arrival back home...either in GBP or Euro.

Year round Sun, sea, beaches, restaurants, bars, spas, 'Latino-Portuguese-African' blend of music and culture adds to relaxation. Local people, and fellow holidaymakers friendliness. Close proximity to airport is an added bonus...just 15 mins away. "No Stress" as the Cape Verde motto goes is so true!

Unique benefits of the property
Worth flying that extra hour south of the Canaries for more guaranteed sunshine, and far superior beaches. All guests so far agree! (see guest comments )
