Located on the beautiful 'porto antigo 1 & 2 residences' my properties enjoy the most stunning sea views from the spacious covered terraces (except no. 38 which has a pretty view of the garden/courtyard). From the terrace of number 13 mums & dads can watch the children playing safely in the large pool. Our apartment is not just a standard holiday home we have added those little extras that make your holiday complete-microwave, electric fans, hairdryer, dvd, playstation, hammocks, toys & inflatables for the pool. The porto antigo residence has around 100 properties offering an intimacy not available at many of the larger developments/hotels. Papayas restaurant has an enviable position where guests can enjoy breakfast, coffee or a light meal. During the evening enjoy a cocktail whilst watching the sun set over santa maria bay or visit one of the many fine restaurants just a short stroll away. Changeover day
Unlike a hotel we are able to offer flexibility in respect of departure times and changeover days. On the day of departure I may be able to accommodate a late check out if another guest is not expected a bonus for mums and dads with small children.

The spacious open plan lounge/dining room has patio doors leading to the covered terrace with seating for al fresco dining for 6 people. From here you can relax in your hammock & enjoy that wonderful uninterrupted sea view. LCD TV, Playstation, ipod docking station, DVD, CD player, films, games & cd's are provided for your enjoyment-great to entertain the children when the sun is too hot. Good quality double sofa bed.
Bedroom 1- king size bed. Safety deposit box
Bedroom 2- single bed (camp bed available for 6th guest).
Travel cot & high chair available on request.
Kitchen -well equipped kitchen with kettle, toaster, sandwich maker, hob, microwave & large fridge/freezer. Seating for 6.
Bathroom-walk in shower cubicle. Hairdryer.
All linen including bath towels supplied-leaving more room in your suitcase. For a personal laundry service please enquire. Rubbish collected at regular intervals from your terrace.

Notes on accommodation
All properties are conveniently located on the ground floor with no stairs & are therefore suitable for couples and families of all ages (see also CV26). Just a few steps from your terrace is the large freshwater swimming pool & beyond that the beach. We have added those little extras that make your holiday complete. To entertain the children; beach toys, inflatables for the pool, board games & PlayStation with games.
For the adults hammocks on the terrace, DVD, CD player, ipod docking station, books, DVDs and CDs.
There are no hidden charges the price quoted is per property regardless of the number of guests. Electricity, water, air conditioning, weekly cleaning and a regular linen change are included in the price. When comparing prices please check as some owners charge a supplement for air-conditioning, cleaning and linen change.

Accessibility
All properties are on the ground floor with only 1 or 2 steps from the garden to terrace. The sliding patio door provides a wide opening allowing ease of access for those guests with mobility problems.

Outside
The Porto Antigo Residence is in a idyllic position directly on the beautiful white sandy beach of Santa Maria. The development boasts a large freshwater swimming pool which is rarely crowded with plenty of poolside furniture, this is surrounded by beautifully landscaped and well maintained gardens. The private beach with warm shallow waters is protected by the old harbour wall and is an ideal spot for the little ones to splash around. Papayas being south west facing is the best spot to enjoy a sunset drink. At night time a perfect romantic ambience is created with lighting around the pool and private beach.

Coast/Beach
The island of Sal was featured on Channel 4 when Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz fame was captured by the beauty of its unspoilt beaches and year round sunshine (4 July 2008).
The Porto Antigo 1 & 2 Residences are situated directly on the miles and miles of white sand which is Santa Maria's main beach. Conveniently situated with all amenities just a few minutes walk.

Travel
Sal International airport is a 15 minute taxi ride from Santa Maria.

Distances
The town centre of Santa Maria is a 3 minute stroll from The Porto Antigo Residence here you will find in excess of 50 superb restaurants and bars. There are a growing number of shops selling local artwork and of course banks, pharmacy etc.
The capital of Espargos is around a 20 minute drive, experience the local Alugier minibus for 1 euro.

Further details
The small colourful town of Santa Maria is located within a few minutes walk of the Porto Antigo Residence. Here there are many fine restaurants, bars, shops, banks, bakery and mini markets. Watch the locals entertain you from one of the many pavement cafes. For the more energetic try your hand at one of the many water sports on offer-kite boarding, wind surfing, diving-all are available within a few minutes walk.
Santa Maria is renowned world wide for its water sports. The world windsurfing championships have been held in Santa Maria for the last 3 years.

Location, location, location - perfect. This is our second visit to Sal. Although we enjoyed our 1st visit when we stayed in Murdeira, there was no comparison to the fabulous position of the Porto Antigo Residence. The bars and restaurants of Santa Maria were a short stroll away.

We had a wonderful holiday in number 13 and really didn’t want to leave the island. Even though I am disabled I managed really well the only steps are 2 from the patio. I am looking forward to returning in January when I will stay for a few weeks.
