Bulgaria's summer city of Varna is just 45 minutes away and offers an international shopping experience along with a fantastic city beach scene. Notes on accommodation
This accommodation has been designed to suit families, but not those with very young children.
The children's bedroom has a private balcony and is on the first floor, all rooms have individual balconies or terraces.
There is a viewing terrace on the first floor.
There is a separate annex for additional privacy for one couple.
The pool is very accessible from the living area.

This property is very high on a hillside, and is on multiple levels, with steps and stairs allowing access to the various rooms and also initial entry into the house.

Private heated (for 2010) pool 6m x 5m. Outdoor patio with patio furniture. Portable barbecue. Semi outdoor viewing terrace, can be used as a barbecue area.

Coast/Beach
Property is 1km away from the beach, harbour and Marina at Balchik.
It is entirely downhill on the way down into town, which means that it is entirely uphill on the way back, taxis are readily available in town.
There are numerous beaches along this coastline, within easy car access, including Albena, Sunny beach, and Varna city beaches, in the other direction there are many beautiful beaches on the Kaliakra peninsula.

Golf
Balchik is becoming recognised as a centre for golfing with 3 signature courses within 10km of this property.

Travel
Nearest airport is Varna airport, which is 45km away.
Bourgas airport is 100km away.
Car hire is recommended, as it enables exploration of this beautiful coastline.
Once you have arrived at the property use of a car is not essential, but you should be prepared for a 15 min, 1km walk into the town.

Further details
Balchik is predominately a harbour town, with a beautiful harbour boardwalk. It also sports a new modern Marina and has modern banks, restaurants, and shops as well as access to an old, historic town. It is home to Bulgaria's national Botanical Gardens and Summer Palace.
There is an art gallery and museum.
Balchick comes alive in the summer, with a lots of local festivities and a summer nightlife scene. The villa property is sufficiently out of town to escape being part of this scene, but close enough to provide access to a range of bars, pubs restaurants and night clubs.

Booking deposit of 30% secures dates, with remainder of payment to be paid 8 weeks prior to stay. A security deposit of Euro 200 or £200 is also requested.

About the owner
Hi, we are the Wilkinson family from South Wales. There's Fraser, Julianne, Conor, Finn and Iona. Obviously we had to name the Villa after someone! We both work full time so enjoy the time off to relax. The first year we spent 3 weeks at the villa and ended up very much into the local pace of life. The kids really improved their swimming that year as they used the pool all the time. We had the villa built by a local architect who is now also our agent in Balchik. The villa is an investment but it's a long term thing for us and we've got another two to build at some point. Once you've seen the area you can see the potential and why we've fallen in love with it. It's still got a way to go but much of the older period stuff is really interesting to see. Catch it while you can.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
This area of Bulgaria is great if you want to avoid the big holiday resorts and the constant hustle and bustle. Balchik gets quite lively in the summer with plenty of nightlife and excellent resturaunts and bars but it's a much more relaxed atmosphere than the resorts. You can chill out with the locals down by the boardwalk and get cheap beer from the stalls or go upmarket to one of the seafront establishments. The seafront is a strollers paradise with a town beach and about 1km of bars & resturaunts, entertainment leading out to the historic Palace which has a fantastic old style Bulgarian eatery and wine dealer. The old town has many less expensive places to shop and relax and you can get great local food from the stalls if you like to cook for yourselves.

Unique benefits of the property
The location of the villa allows you to easily retreat up the hill to the edge of town and enjoy some secluded private time. It also has fabulous view and we like nothing better than morning coffee and evening drinks on the viewing terrace. The kids love the pool and it's an easy house to relax at since there's nobody overlooking you but you have neighbours for a bit of local interest. The walk up from town will keep you fit but hire a car and there are many other great beaches to go and visit and Albena has to be a destination for kids at least once. It's an old style resort with a great beach. The best bit is right at the Balchik end so head there first. Check out the access to the 3 world-class golf courses nearby, Black Sea Rama, Thracian Cliffs and Lighthouse.
