Notes on accommodation
The chalet is centrally heated with double radiators throughout, with a large open working fireplace in the lounge (logs can be purchased in the main reception). The standard of insulation is exceptional. The chalet has an award-winning design with realms of glass to maximise the panoramic views. This chalet and complex is very suitable for children, families, couples and groups alike, with pools, traditional restaurant, BBQ area, bar, reception, gym, volleyball, football pitch, tennis court, children's playground and a lake. For larger groups, eg up to 30 people, I can possibly work with other neighbouring property owners. Please feel free to enquire.
Accessibility
The chalet has small steps up to the entrance and a marble stairway within, so it is not particularly suitable for wheelchair users, or any person who has difficulty in climbing stairs (unless you feel that you will be happy using the sofabed in lounge and the downstairs shower/wc).
Outside
There is a paved terrace and pagoda with some shrubbery outside the entrance, adjacent to a private parking area. There is a small well maintained private lawned area. The chalet is immediately adjacent to the enormous outdoor resort swimming pool which has a communal hot tub alongside it, and a few yards from the tennis court. The resort bar, indoor pool, gym, reception and first class traditional restaurant are about 100 yards away.
Coast/Beach
A 25 minute drive up into the mountains to any of the mountain huts brings you to within a 25 minute walk of beautiful freshwater mountain lakes, where in summer and even the interim seasons, swimming and sunbathing in the gloriously clean air can be enjoyed. Also, a 30 minute drive from Redenka down from the mountains to the main highway, brings you to within 1.5 hrs drive of the Greek coast.
Golf
The complex is 10 minutes walk away from a brand new 18 hole Ian Woosnam golf course, which is the subject of negotiation with the developers for the Redenka guests to use. The chalet is a 40 minute drive from the nearest public golf course.
Skiing
From Bansko, in less than 20 minutes a fast gondola cable lift will take you to the ski centre, which is situated about 12km above the town. On your way back at the end of the day it is up to you to decide whether to return by the gondola or ski down the ski road, which marks Bansko as one of the few resorts in the world to offer this option. The ski centre has over 65km of marked ski runs and cross country tracks that have been extensively cultivated. More than 50% of the the great selection of nursery, intermediate, and advanced pistes are covered by snow cannons and all runs are groomed by more than 12 Kassbohrer slope maintenance vehicles. The ski runs are serviced by a number of chair lifts and drag lifts, all of which are cutting edge Doppelmayer ski lifts, including the 8-man Gondola and the 4 man chair lift with bubble shields. Expect no queues as the easy hands-free access to all lifts is secured by SkiData chip-card ski passes that you never need to take out of your pocket.
Special interest holidays
The air in this region is reputed to be the cleanest, purest in Europe, and together with the health spas and crystal clear lakes and springs, the area is a great place to visit for anybody suffering from respiratory problems. The region is a protected national park and world heritage centre, and is particularly suitable for nature, wildlife and walking/rambling holidays. Numerous excursions are advertised and can be arranged at the main reception. I also have fantastic apartment options in Borovets if you wish to contact me directly.
Travel
Fly from most UK airports to either Sofia or Plovdiv. Competitive rates of car hire available or taxi/transfers also available. Flights are approximately 3 hours/transfers approximately 2.5 hours. Contact chalet owner for best ski packages and transfer details/prices. Redenka is a 35 min drive to/from the main motorway south. The Greek coast 1.5 hrs south down the motorway, Sofia is 2 hrs north along the motorway. Plovdiv is 2.5 hrs away along carriageways.
Distances
Bansko is 6km away along the main road, and in winter there is a regular ski bus directly to and from the gondola, charged at 3 Euros return per day per adult. There are glorious mountain lakes 12 kms up in the mountains. Lake Batak, an enormous lake catering for tourists is 2 hours drive east. There is a National bear sanctuary sponsored by Sophia Loren on the way, about 1.25 hours drive east. The Greek coast is about 2 hrs drive south.
Further details
There are so many different things to do that it is difficult to summarise. The skiing cannot be beaten in the Balkans and the favourable snow fall ensures great skiing throughout the winter months. For the non-skier there is still the history and culture to be enjoyed. In summertime everyone is faced with a mountain of opportunities, combined with a fantastically hot climate. The Greek coast is 2.0 hrs away, or alternatively a 2.5 hr drive brings you into the capital,Sofia, for shopping, culture and all the joys of a beautiful, metropolitan city. Alternatively, mountain walks, crystal clear air, spa resorts and a National bear sanctuary are all to be enjoyed. Bansko town centre is a listed World Heritage Site, and it is easy to see why with its quaint cobbled streets, where you can still hear the local Bansko dialect being used, and old clock tower, where the bell has been keeping time for over 150 years. Skiers of all abilities are well catered for as Bansko has over 65 kilometres of marked ski runs, which are easily accessed by the newly installed and impressive Gondola lift. Après-ski is centred around the local “Mehanas”, friendly taverna type restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine and drinks, often with roaring log fires and live entertainment. For a truly enjoyable winter sports holiday, or a wonderful, relaxing break throughout the rest of the year, enhanced by warm Bulgarian hospitality, visit Bansko where you can have the best of both worlds. Amongst other Bulgarian mountain resorts, Bansko offers what is probably the best après-ski, because it is a unique combination of a modern mountain resort and a living rustic town. Almost 100 “mehana” dining places offer unique local cuisine dishes in the atmosphere of traditional songs and dances, performed by local artists. Besides the famous local church, St. Trinity, there are many historical, architectural, and cultural monuments. Both winter and summer, Bansko hosts many famous traditional festivals.

*Bansko was super best! We thank you so much and we had a wonderful time! The hotel had no problem in letting us use their SPA! Can't wait to go back there! We've been in your chalet for 2 days and everything is great! We're having a great time! Andrei Dumitrescu
*HI Alistair, we had a lovely time in Bansko. The apartment was great and even with 8 of us we didn’t feel cramped at all.We left our car hire until we arrived, but were lucky and managed to get a vehicle to transport us all. I had a few lessons with the Ullen ski school & will go skiing again. My younger son took to it like a duck to water, even tackling the 73% degree black slope(he was under strict instructions not to go on black slopes!) It was lovely to be in the fresh air everyday, and we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday,we certainly slept well every night. All our flights etc were on time so everything ran smoothly. I will certainly recommend your apartment and Bansko to anyone looking for a skiing holiday. Regards Linda

About the owner
Hi there, I'm Alistair, proud owner of various fantastic ski/summer/all-year-round holiday facilities in Bulgaria. Having lived in Bavaria, Germany and Central Switzerland for a few years I have developed a real passion for foreign climes, hence my Bulgarian investments. Bulgaria is still generally a bit of an unknown, but I have accrued a huge knowledge base and love for the country over the last few years. It has a wonderful capital city, 3 mountain ranges and a beautiful coastline. Bordering Greece and Turkey, it offers an incredibly diverse base for holidaying/touring. I have successfully advertised my accommodations privately for a couple of years now, and all the guests who have booked through me, have been 100% delighted with their bookings. Please don't hesitate to contact me!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
I bought my Bansko chalet off-plan following a solo tour of the Bulgarian ski resorts. I discovered that Bansko, with it's new, modern gondola and ski facilities was being over-developed with apartment blocks, but there were no chalets available at all. Upon my return, I saw the Redenka off-plan project information, all backed by the very best companies and I quickly got in there as one of the first investors. Subsequently, the Redenka complex has become the most exclusive and sought after chalet/apt facility in Bansko. The facilities are incredible, the location is perfect and the complex itself has won several awards for architectural design and construction excellence. It is a truly all year round facility, beautifully managed and maintained by a large Bulgarian affiliate and I love it!
Unique benefits of the property
The complex is self-contained and magnificent, about 6 km (15-20 mins by private shuttle bus) from Bansko. It is roughly equi-distant from Bulgaria's two airports, Sofia and Plovdiv, which are about 3.5 hour flights from a large number of the UK's international airports. I have always hired a vehicle to pick up at the airport, but private transfers can also be pre-booked at fantastic prices; transfer times are approx. 3 hrs. The chalet is just the right size, so as not to feel too large for couples, but to comfortably accommodate larger groups up to eight (though toddlers can be accommodated on top of that still). The chalet price is set, regardless of the group number. Booking through me is straightforward and much cheaper than booking through any travel agents and tour operators!
