The villa has a private 9 x 4m tiled south facing pool, with a spacious tiled sun terrace area around it, supplied with sun loungers. Leading up to a large covered breakfast/dining terrace with a stone BBQ area off it, offering you sunshine with breakfast and gentle shade for alfresco lunches. Relax on the south facing balcony and enjoy a coffee whilst watching the Shepherd bringing in his flock. The village is an easy 5 minutes walk, offering cafes, bar, church, post office and well stocked mini-markets. Shkorpilovtsi Beach is only a 15 minutes walk away, 12km of golden sand and one of the best beaches in Bulgaria, offering in season many more choices of restaurants, cafes, live music and an open air cinema.

Notes on accommodation
The accommodation is non-smoking. The villa is spacious and would suit families, groups or couples. It has been built and furnished with most holiday needs in mind. The garden is large and private. It has a generous grassed area around the pool terrace for games. A 9x4m pool that is 1.3m - 1.5m deep, with non slip tiles around it. Quiet ceiling fans are in all of the rooms, to guarantee coolness. All windows have fitted integrated fly-screens and shutters, which give you the choice of having the doors and windows open whenever you wish. The house has a full central heating system for out of season rentals (please enquire for more details).
Accessibility
The villa is suitable for groups which may include 2+ guests with some restricted mobility. On the ground floor is a twin bedroom and a spacious shower room. The roads leading to the village center and beach are flat.
Outside
The villa is situated in a large enclosed corner plot, laid with lawn and shrubbery. There is a spacious elevated south facing terrace around the 4 x 9m private pool, exclusive to the villa. Available for guests use around the pool area are 8 sun loungers. Steps from this terrace lead up to another large covered terrace equipped for alfresco dining, with furniture for seating 8 people comfortably and a large stone built BBQ area. The views from the elevated terraces and garden are of the surrounding countryside, forest and coast.
Coast/Beach
A 15 minutes walk brings you to the fine sandy beach of Shkorpilovtsi. It is over 12km long, 100m wide and stretches from Kamchia down to Byala. The beach is a big hit with most children, including mine. With soft white sand, perfect for sand-castles and the coastal water warmer and less salty than the Mediterranean seas. It is popular with Bulgarian families but more unknown to other nationalities. It retains its serene natural beauty without too many tourist trappings even in the high season.
Travel
The local airport is Varna Airport. Shkorpilovtsi is 38km south of Varna, less than 45 minutes drive from the airport. The villa is within walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shopping, but car hire is a good idea to allow you to explore and to see all the beautiful places that the Black Sea Coast has to offer. We can assist with local car hire if required and our property manager now can offer airport transfers. If you are interested please ask for details.

Further details
Shkorpilovtsi and it's beach is a hidden gem. Being 11km off the main highway, it has been buffered from the mass development of Bulgaria in the last 5 years. The resort is low key, ideal if you want to enjoy life at a relaxed pace. The pleasures of eating out here are very reasonable on the family purse. An average meal for 5 including drinks, is around £20. You have many choices where to eat; the village has cafes, a bar and 3 mini-markets. Nearer to the beach there are numerous restaurants, cafes and snack bars. In high season you can enjoy the open air cinema for £1.50 per person or enjoy the live bands or singers at the Music Beach.

About the owner
Hello, we live in Surrey with our 3 children. One of our favourite things is going on holiday. Whichever country we are in we love trying new foods, exploring and experiencing the culture. It is something that we look forward to for most of the year. About 5 years ago we decided that we would love to own a place abroad of our own. We looked at all of our usual favourite places; The Greek Islands, the Canary Islands, Spain, France and Italy. All are beautiful but we just couldn't find 'The right spot'. Bulgaria was a relative new discovery to us. It is a country that has been preserved in many ways, as it had been under socialist rule up until 1989. Here we discovered a country that had not merged into the Euro blend, as sadly so many other countries have. We were hooked.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Here we found 'The spot' in 2006. A piece of land that had stunning panoramic views across fields, looking towards the Black Sea and an ancient oak forest. It is on the edge of a pretty village that is big enough to have a choice of cafes and shops but small enough to be welcoming. From here we can walk to the stunning beach with fine pure white sand and enjoy views that take me back 25 years. We discovered that in the summer the beach springs to life with lots of cafes, bars, shops, restaurants and even an outdoor cinema. It positively buzzes! We decided that here we could build our perfect villa, including all the things that we liked when staying at other villas in the past. In 2008 it was completed and it became 'Gina's Retreat' a place to rest and relax.
Unique benefits of the property
The villa is an easy 40 minutes drive from Varna airport. The spacious villa sits in a large enclosed plot with south facing pool and stone BBQ. Everything you need to enjoy your holiday is within easy walking distance. Eating out in Bulgaria is a pleasant experience. Many of the restaurants and cafes offer an English menu. The food is fresh and the fish and salads fantastic. Prices are very reasonable, with a meal for 5 including drinks, costing about £20. Out of the summer season; the village and beach resort become peaceful, the area rural. Relax as the animals graze in the fields around the villa. Enjoy great fishing and walks. There is a bus linking the village to Varna City. The cafes and restaurants are open all year but you can also use the BBQ, dine whilst watching shooting stars.
