Our luxury chalet is built from a mixture of stone and solid wood with ample insulation. Equipped with central heating and a traditional log fire for those cosy nights in. It has quality furnishings throughout. Set on the hillside with it's own balcony and private south facing 60ft garden providing unbroken beautiful views across the mountains. It is an ideal location for those who seek luxury comforts at one of Bulgaria's top skiing and spa resorts. It is close to / opposite the Ian Woosnam Design Golf Course (18 hole par 72) which is due to open in 2006.

Families and Couples only. The Chalet is non smoking and no Pets are allowed. Departure times normally 10:AM Arrival times normally 2PM local. Outside
Balcony with table and chairs. The 60 ft Private garden is south facing with parasol and sun loungers. It has uninterrupted views of the mountains with views of Bansko and the Golf Complex. There are 2 tennis courts, childrens play area, outdoor and indoor heated swimming pools are available for use.
Golf
Opposite the complex, approx 3km is being built one of Bulgaria's first Golf Courses 18 hole, par 72 designed by Ian Woosnam. Ian stated "...I am keen to be involved in helping develop the sport in the country. We aim to create world class facilities which will promote the game of golf and tourism in general. The backdrop to the Bansko site is spectacular and with mature pine tress and streams I envisage a rugged mountain look to the course...." Have a quick round whilst the the wife spoils herself with a massage and manicure in the Spa.
Skiing
Bansko, the newest ski complex in Europe and the most modern ski resort in the Balkans! Bansko has 14 pistes totalling 65km, cross country, and off piste skiing. It is renowned for having one of the longest ski seasons, roughly mid December to the end of April. Over 40 million Euro's of investment has provided a modern affordable Ski destination. It has new gondola's, chair lift's, snow gun's and an electronic ski pass system. Bulgaria must be a good contender to host the Winter Olympics! The Ski area is excellent for beginners and intermediates. For snowboarders and the more advanced skiers there is off piste is a challenge. There are a number of Ski Schools which offer good tuition.
Special interest holidays
Hill/Mountain Walking. The small town of Bansko lies at the foot of the Pirin Mountains. In the summer it is the perfect starting point for both treking and short walks in the Pirin National Park. Cycling - bikes are available to hire from the hotel. Horse Riding - the Peri Vollas Horse riding center provides qualified instructors and offers riding lessons for beginners, adults and children. SPA Resort and wellness centre. Located on site.
Travel
Sofia Airport approx 100 miles 2/3 hours by coach transfer. Car hire and taxis are available at the airport. We would recommend the Katarino Hotel Transport which can be arranged for airport transfers from approx £65 per vehicle. Hotel transport runs to Bansko and Razlog every 15 minutes during the ski season. The transport can be used during the evenings by request.

Further details
Bansko town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has narrow cobbled streets with stone houses, 120 cultural monuments, museums and permanent ethnographic exhibitions. In the centre is The Holy Trinity church with its 30 m high bell tower and clock. Trust me it works as Anne and I found out as it rang out at 4am, waking the entire Farm population, pets and ourselves on our first Summer visit to Bansko. It was a special occassion but we promised ourselves not to be so close and bought the house at Katarino Spa.
In summer hiking, climbing and horse riding are popular. There are well signed routes and hikers' chalets. Mountain bikes can be hired from the Hotel and in Bansko.
Local companies can organise trips in the mountains e.g. white water rafting, canoeing, paragliding. Also in summer the town hosts a week long jazz festival and other events.
For après ski the traditional Bansko tavern ("Mehana"), with their exceptional charm and style offer local atmosphere with their cuisine and good selection of Bulgarian wines. Most of the local "Mehanas" even offer live folk music. A visit or two to these is a must!
Discos and night clubs work without time limit, and usually close early in the morning. You can walk off the Gondola straight into the Happy End Bar / Disco.
As the cost of living is very cheap in Bulgaria, your money will go several times further here than in skiing resorts in other parts of Europe. Couple this with a luxury location!
I've lost count of the amount of times people have said "wow" as i've been dropped off from the Balkan holidays bus from Sofia. Your holiday is your investment, you have had to work hard for it after all. Don't wish you had booked here, invest wisely, book here first!
Booking notes
Prices for the rent of the house - self catering. Check in 14:00, Departure 10:00. If used Hotel facilities, including Maid Services, Telephone and Firewood/place cleaning are payable locally. 30% Deposit or £150 whichever the greater on booking and 70% 28 days before arrival. Deposits are non-refundable, if you cancel your holiday or do not pay the outstanding balance. An additional refundable £150 deposit is required to cover breakages. Credit cards taken via Pay Pal.
