Swimming pool with glass roof opening Apr 2008. 5 mins to the ski lift gondola and 10 mins to the town centre. We have two identical 2 apartments in the same block on adjacent floors. Ideal for a group of friends or 2 families holidaying together. The apartments are spacious, furnished to a high standard, and sleep up to 6 each. They are fully equipped, including cable TV and DVD player. Internet facilities are available in the internet cafe and for a small additional weekly charge also in the apartment. There is secure parking and 24 hour concierge service. Additional cleaning can be arranged at a moderate extra cost. A holiday here combines the independence of self-catering backed by hotel facilities if required. Everything is geared to you having a very comfortable holiday here.

The kitchen is fully equipped including oven, hob, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is ample room in the entrance hall for luggage, coats, ski boots etc. All linen and towels are provided. Internet facilities are available in the internet cafe and for a small additional weekly charge also in the apartment. There is electric heating as well as log fire.

Notes on accommodation
Close to gondola and 10 minutes to town centre. There are plans for on-site medical centre when the hotel opens. There is a fire alarm in the apartment which links to the hotel reception.

Outside
The complex includes a 4 star hotel due to open soon, with internet cafe, restaurant facilities and a swimming pool with glass roof. The spa centre includes jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and massage facilities. There is 24 hour secure parking and concierge service.
Skiing
Bansko is an established ski resort with 14 pistes totalling 65km, including a 16km run plus cross country and excellent off piste skiing. Of the 65km of pistes 35% are graded beginners, 40% intermediate and 25% advanced. Bansko continues to develop rapidly as a ski resort. A lot of investment is going into further improving the facilities including a new gondola, snow guns, electronic ski pass system etc. The illuminated runs allow the added experience of night skiing. There is a top class ski school for all levels of ability. There are two children's ski lifts, a ski kindergarten for children from age 4, a children's ski run, a children's slalom and other fun and imaginative children's ski facilities. Bansko is also popular with snowboarders; the snowboard park has runs with jumps and barriers of various difficulty and a half pipe 90m long, 16m wide with 3.5m high walls. The ski season runs from the beginning of December through to mid April. Highest skiing point is 2600m.
Travel
The nearest airport is Sofia. Direct flights go from Gatwick and Manchester (Bulgaria Air), Heathrow (BA), Luton (Wizzair) and Stansted (Easyjet). Most airports also have daily flights with Lufthansa, Czech and other airlines transiting through European cities. It is a two and a half hour drive from Sofia airport to Bansko. Car rental would be useful but is not essential. The complex oprates shuttle services to and from the ski lift station, the town centre and sofia airport.

Further details
Bansko town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a thriving town has much to see and do. It has narrow cobbled streets with stone houses, a number of cultural monuments, museums and permanent ethnographic exhibitions. There are reasonably priced excellent restaurants and delightful 'mehanas' offering a traditional atmosphere with great cuisine. Many have live music. Discos and nightclubs operate till the early hours of the morning. For off slope child care there is a kindergarten conveniently located on your way to and from the gondola lift station, which welcomes children aged 3-7. Summer activities include trekking, cycling, walking, and fishing. There are a number of natural mineral spring water spas in the area.
